Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Josh Wilson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Rubao Valadares! The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Sam Margolis and Richard Clark.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Valadares lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
It looks like Josh Wilson has been cut. Wilson closes the distance and clinches. Valadares has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Wilson has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Valadares is trying to keep an underhook but Wilson manages to get the takedown into half guard. Wilson lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Wilson wants to pass the guard but Valadares is defending well. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Valadares blocking the ground and pound attempt from Wilson. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Wilson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Valadares keeps working. Wilson gets to his feet - back to striking we go! Wilson moves into the clinch. Wilson throws a knee to the head but misses.

Valadares wants to get up but he can't break Wilson's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Valadares is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Wilson throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Valadares wants to stand but Wilson has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Wilson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Valadares takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.

It looks like Rubao Valadares has been cut. Valadares throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Wilson's waist but Wilson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Valadares off to one side. Valadares looks gassed! Wilson moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Wilson.

Wilson prevents Valadares from breaking the clinch. Valadares has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Wilson is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Valadares has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Wilson ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Wilson no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Wilson stops Valadares from standing up. Wilson stands and steps away. Valadares gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Wilson moves into the clinch. Wilson manages to break the clinch.
Valadares throws out a loose jab but Wilson uses good head movement to avoid it. Valadares connects with the punch. Some wild striking there from Valadares.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Valadares closes the distance and lands a one-two. No luck for Wilson with that takedown attempt. Wilson connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Wilson has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Valadares finds it's way round the side to connect with Wilson's head. Wilson displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Valadares throws out the jab. Wilson moves into range and clinches up with Valadares. Wilson breaks the clinch.
Valadares tries to keep at a distance but Wilson has taken the fight into the clinch. Valadares wants to get back to striking at distance but Wilson won't allow it.
Wilson pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Wilson closes this distance looking for a takedown but Valadares circles away. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Josh Wilson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Wilson tries to close the distance and clinch but Valadares swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. A left lands for Valadares. Wilson chopping away at his opponent's legs.
This has been an exciting period of action! Wilson drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Valadares tries to escape but Wilson is in control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A punch combination from Valadares misses. Wilson shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Wilson was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Valadares really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

That's one minute gone in the round. Wilson scoring with strikes but Valadares is staying in there. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Wilson cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Valadares tries to reverse the position but Wilson maintains control. You get the feeling that Valadares really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Wilson feints and as Valadares raises his hands in defense, Wilson changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Wilson postures up and lands a big shot to Valadares's brow. Valadares is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Wilson is controlling him. Valadares keeping moving, preventing Wilson from controlling successfully. That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Wilson looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. Wilson misses with a series of wild punches.

Wilson shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Valadares as he avoids it easily. A shot to de liver by Valadares. Beautiful body shot. Jab by Valadares. Valadares digs a good body shot into Wilson's ribs. The fight moves into the clinch position. Wilson can't get the takedown.

Wilson has hold of one of Valadares's legs. Valadares is fighting the takedown attempt but Wilson gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. Wilson wants to control from the top but Valadares keeps moving. Rubao Valadares has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Josh Wilson is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Valadares has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Wilson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Josh Wilson. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Wilson, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
