PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ilkka Hynninen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Adam Little (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Ilkka Hynninen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Adam Little!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Matti Vanhoillinen and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Little throws a sloppy head kick and Hynninen moves out of range easily.
Hynninen has a takedown stuffed.
Little works over Hynninen's head and body with a nice combination.
Horrible takedown by Hynninen or perhaps it was just good defense by Little which made him look bad.
Ilkka Hynninen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hynninen needs to keep his hands up - Little had a free shot at his head there.
Hynninen throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Little's waist but Little gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Hynninen off to one side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ilkka Hynninen. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hynninen shoots in looking for a takedown. Little tries to sprawl out of it but Hynninen keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Little manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Little closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Little lands in his opponent's guard.
Little tries to free his leg and advance position but Hynninen is retaining full guard.
Little is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Little is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Little would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Hynninen trying to keep a closed guard but Little is proving a slippery customer.
Little is looking to advance position but Hynninen has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

Hynninen has hold of Little's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Little manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Little is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Little is working to get back to half guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Little can do anything to dispel that myth.

Little defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Hynninen.
Hynninen thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.

Hynninen working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Hynninen is breathing heavily.
Little is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Hynninen is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Little to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Little shrugs it off.
You get the feeling that Little really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Little tries to lock up and control but Hynninen gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Little is looking to improve his position but Hynninen isn't that keen on the idea.
Little's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Little is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Hynninen has hold of Little's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Little manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Hynninen misses with a head shot.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Little keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Hynninen looking for a guillotine from mount but Little is having none of it.
Hynninen thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
Little is trying to escape the mount.
Little wants to control but Hynninen is having none of it.
Little is looking to improve his position but Hynninen isn't that keen on the idea.

Hynninen has control of Little's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Little regains control of the situation pretty easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Adam Little dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Little doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Hynninen counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Hynninen works his way into full mount!

Hynninen looking for a guillotine from mount but Little is having none of it.
Little tries to hold on but Hynninen pushes him away.
Hynninen won't let Little get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

Little has left one of his arms exposed and Hynninen doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Little screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:03 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Ilkka Hynninen!
