PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Osi Tuck (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and King Kong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). King Kong told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Chad Campbell and Joseph Jones.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tuck just misses with a punch to the body.

Tuck looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Kong pulls Tuck in to control the position.
Kong wants to stand up but Tuck is controlling him.
Kong keeping moving, preventing Tuck from controlling successfully.

Tuck is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Tuck accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Kong has Tuck pulled in close to control his posture.
Tuck is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Tuck passes Kong's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Kong is staying active underneath Tuck, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Kong is controlling Tuck's trapped leg to prevent Tuck from advancing to side control.

Tuck is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Tuck is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Kong is just riding it out for now. Tuck eventually gives up the hold.
Kong is not content to let Tuck control the position.

Kong tries to kick Tuck off but Tuck keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Tuck passes to side control.
Kong managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Tuck.
Tuck is looking to take a break and control but Kong is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Kong regains half guard there - taking advantage of Tuck's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.
Kong wants to get back to his feet.

Tuck is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Kong sees it coming and defends easily.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Kong wants to get back to his feet.

Tuck throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Kong will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Tuck fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Kong utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Kong is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Tuck is controlling him well.

Kong really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Tuck. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Tuck slips under a jab from Kong.

and Tuck counters with a shoot takedown. Kong fights it but they end up in guard.

Kong is looking to stand up but Tuck isn't so interested in that idea.
Tuck wants to control from the top but Kong keeps moving.

Tuck drops back looking for a leg! Kong is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Kong manages to kick Tuck off! Tuck jumps back into Kong's guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Kong's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Tuck advances position into side control!

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Tuck takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

It looks like Osi Tuck has been cut.
Tuck throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Tuck tries to move into range but Kong moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
King Kong is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Kong keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Kong moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Tuck throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Tuck slips a jab and a cross from Kong.

King Kong seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Tuck ducks under a wild hook from Kong.
Kong throws the left hand but Tuck avoids the punch easily.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Tuck misses with a low kick.

Kong scores with a decent looking hook.
Kong throws out a loose jab but Tuck uses good head movement to avoid it.

Tuck keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Kong.

Tuck shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Kong pinned against the cage. Kong gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Tuck tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Kong swivels and escapes.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Osi Tuck. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Kong might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Kong is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Tuck.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Kong throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Tuck sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Tuck shoots in for a takedown but Kong shows good takedown defense.

King Kong is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
The fighters circle momentarily. Kong darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Kong will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Tuck fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Tuck takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Osi Tuck is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Kong swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Tuck dodges the punch combination from Kong.
Kong jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Kong connects with a looping right hand.

Osi Tuck's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Kong scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Kong throws a shot from downtown. Tuck moves away and avoids it.
Kong looks to land a combination. Tuck sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

Tuck looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Kong is fending him off so far but Tuck persists. Nope, Kong circles away and we're back to standing.

Jeez, Osi Tuck's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Tuck throws a front kick aimed at Kong's knee but Kong avoids it well.

Kong connects with a good right hand that stumbles Tuck. Tuck circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Tuck is looking to wear down Kong with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
