Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Marcelo Alencar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and BJ Penn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Marcelo Alencar could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to BJ Penn's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Marcelo Alencar! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, BJ Penn! The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Luis Engracia and Leandro Rodrigues.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Penn shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Alencar but Alencar pushes him off and we're back to square one. Penn gets the takedown into side control. Penn working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Penn wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Alencar, who protects the arm well. Alencar knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Penn on the ground. Penn thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Alencar prevents Penn from moving into mount. Penn postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Alencar manages to get back to half guard. Penn seems to be looking for submissions.
That's one minute gone in the round. Penn is looking for a kimura but Alencar is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Penn to get the leverage. Penn looks gassed! Penn trying to mount his opponent but Alencar defends it. Alencar is looking to escape. Penn is trying to work for a kimura but Alencar is defending well.
Alencar looks like he's trying to stand up.
Alencar actively working from the bottom here. Alencar controlling the position for now.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Penn shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Alencar as he avoids it easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Horrible takedown by Alencar or perhaps it was just good defense by Penn which made him look bad. Some wild striking there from Alencar.
Penn fails with the takedown and Alencar makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick. Marcelo Alencar has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of BJ Penn. Penn has his takedown stuffed and Alencar counters with a nice double leg into side control. Penn won't be happy with that. Penn sneaks back into half guard. Alencar is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Alencar thows a huge punch but Penn dodges it nicely.
Penn looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Penn tries to roll over but Alencar keeps him under control. Alencar looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Alencar throwing shots but Penn is blocking nicely. Penn trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!
Alencar pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Penn manages to work a leg through to get back to half guard here. Good work there by Penn, under a barage of strikes from Alencar.
Penn makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Penn. Penn is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Penn is looking for a kimura here.
Alencar gets full guard. Alencar escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Penn gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Penn passes into half guard. Penn works his way into side control. Penn tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Penn swings around for an armbar but Alencar sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Penn's guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but BJ Penn will probably get the nod. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Alencar lands a jab-cross combination. Nice takedown defense from Penn. No joy for Alencar on that attempt. Penn misses with a takedown attempt and Alencar counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Penn is looking to sweep but instead, Alencar has passed into half guard.
Penn is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Alencar seems to be working for a kimura but Penn defends the submission attempt. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Alencar working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Alencar looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Penn is trying to maintain the position but Alencar is very close to passing his half guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Penn gets full guard. Alencar wants to control from the top but Penn keeps moving. Alencar stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Penn swivels though and keeps the full guard. Penn escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Alencar gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Alencar advances position into side control! Penn is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Alencar's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Penn is looking to improve his position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Penn is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Alencar frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. A nice elbow there by Alencar. Penn regains half guard. Penn gets full guard. Alencar has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Penn lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Alencar! Alencar is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Penn locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Alencar is forced to tap!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:01 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). BJ Penn!
