Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Chris Wells (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chingiz Akayev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Akayev's choice of entrance music: The lamentations of women. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 0 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Chingiz Akayev!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Sergei Dronov and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A jab from Wells finds it's way through Akayev's defenses.


It looks like Chingiz Akayev has been cut.
Akayev walks into a straight right hand from Wells.
Wells throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Akayev scores a takedown into full mount!

Akayev looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Wells wants to hold on but Akayev pushes him away.
Wells is squirming around, avoiding Akayev's attempts to control the action.

Akayev jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Wells is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Wells and Akayev has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Akayev is working Wells over with some ground and pound from side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Wells tries to contro but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.

Akayev goes for an armbar but Wells turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Wells.

Akayev had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Wells defends it easily.

Akayev trying to keep a closed guard but Wells is proving a slippery customer.
Akayev looking to hit a scissor sweep but Wells is one step ahead there.
Akayev is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Akayev is trying to control the position but Wells postures up.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Wells decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Wells gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Chris Wells seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Wells misses with a hook. Akayev ducked under it nicely.

Wells misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Akayev closes the distance and clinches up with Wells, looking for a takedown. Akayev pushes Wells against the cage but Wells circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Chris Wells is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Wells throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Wells misses with a kick to the body.
Akayev misses with a two punch combination.
Akayev moves out of range of the body kick from Wells.

Wells doesn't manage to clinch there - Akayev circles away.
Wells pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Wells lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Akayev takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Wells throws a hook but Akayev avoids it easily.
Akayev misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Wells.
Wells feints and then cracks Akayev's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Akayev down.

A nice leg kick lands there from Wells.
Wells is looking to land body kicks.
Wells scores with a sloppy right hand. Akayev should have avoided that one.
A bone on bone clash there as Akayev blocks the leg kick.
Akayev keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Akayev shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Akayev comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Wells moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Wells moves in looking to clinch but Akayev pushes him off.

and Akayev counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Akayev scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Wells wants to slow Akayev down by chopping away at his legs.
Akayev is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Wells rather than just go for the knockout.
Wells defending well as Akayev loads up on a big left hand.
Akayev lands with an uppercut that bounces Wells off the cage and back into rage.
Wells uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Akayev.
Wells will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Akayev closes the distance and clinches up with Wells, looking for a takedown. Akayev pushes Wells against the cage but Wells circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

No luck with that takedown attempt from Akayev.
Chris Wells has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chingiz Akayev.
Horrible takedown by Akayev or perhaps it was just good defense by Wells which made him look bad.
Wells staying out of range there.
Akayev looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Akayev throws a hook but Wells avoids it easily.

Akayev stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Wells swivels though and keeps the full guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Akayev loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Wells swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Akayev counters with a left to the body.
Wells keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
A combination from Wells does no damage.

and Akayev counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.


It looks like Chris Wells has been cut.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Chingiz Akayev comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Wells has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
