Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Steve Andrews (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and D J Rich (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Steve Andrews!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, D J Rich!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Alexandre Firmino and Edson Gomes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rich shoots for a takedown but Andrews saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Rich.

Rich goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Andrews has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Rich but great work by Andrews.
Rich tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Andrews wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Andrews stands up and beckons Rich to his feet.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Andrews missing with knees to the body.
Andrews landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.

Andrews breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Andrews moves into the clinch.

Rich successfully pulls guard.
Andrews stopping the sweep attempt from Rich.
Andrews is stalling in the full guard.
Andrews wants to get up but he can't break Rich's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rich can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Andrews controls the pace.
Rich is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Andrews slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Andrews wants to stand but Rich has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Rich looking for a sweep. Not yet Rich, not yet.
Rich throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Andrews would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Andrews pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Rich takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Andrews looking to land some kicks to the body here.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Rich fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Rich looks gassed!
Andrews doesn't manage to clinch there - Rich circles away.
Steve Andrews seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Andrews thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Rich if he has to take too many more of those.
Andrews throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Andrews throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
Andrews drops Rich with a left and a right! Oh, Rich is hurt - Andrews dives into side control looking to finish!

Rich is still in real trouble! Can Andrews finish him?
Rich tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Andrews presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
Andrews prevents Rich from getting the reversal.
Rich seems to have recovered his senses.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Andrews avoids the attempt from Rich to control.

Andrews stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
Andrews throws a head kick but Rich moves out of range.
Andrews tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Rich paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Rich shoots for a double leg takedown but Andrews sprawls well. He's pushed Rich's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Steve Andrews has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of D J Rich.
A big left from Andrews misses.
Andrews lands a jab-cross combination.
Andrews rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Rich moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Rich shoots in and drives through. Andrews sprawls well.
Andrews throws the left hand but Rich avoids the punch easily.
Andrews is looking to clinch but Rich is avoiding it.

Andrews fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Rich, pushing him back against the cage.
Andrews lands an elbow inside.
Rich tries to score a body lock takedown but Andrews shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Andrews with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.

Rich pulls guard.
Andrews postures up.
Rich keeping moving, preventing Andrews from controlling successfully.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Rich wants to sweep but no luck.
Rich trying to control the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Andrews has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Rich to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Andrews is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Rich pulls down on the head and he's put Andrews to sleep! This one is all over!
