1 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Duke Cottingham! The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Steve Erwin and Summer Carpenter.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gonzales throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Cottingham slips a jab from Gonzales. Cottingham has Gonzales up against the cage in a clinch.
Gonzales is struggling to control the position. Cottingham manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Cottingham is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Cottingham had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Gonzales defends it easily. Cottingham is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Gonzales is aware though and is defending well. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Gonzales misses with a takedown attempt - Cottingham sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Gonzales throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean. Cottingham keeps the fight on the outside.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Gonzales shoots in and drives through. Cottingham sprawls well. Gonzales closes the distance and pushes Cottingham back into the cage. Gonzales with a knee to the head.

Cottingham takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
