The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Inoki fails with the takedown.
Tomioka tries to clinch but Inoki is having none of it.
Horrible takedown by Inoki or perhaps it was just good defense by Tomioka which made him look bad.
Nice takedown defense from Tomioka. No joy for Inoki on that attempt.

Tomioka closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Tomioka unloads a knee to the mid-section. Inoki lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
Tomioka throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Inoki blocks it with crossed arms.
Tomioka connects with a knee to the head.
Inoki tries for a takedown. No joy.

Tomioka breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Tomioka lands with a shot to the body.
Tomioka throws a nice outside leg kick.

Akira Tomioka is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Inoki fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Tomioka works over Inoki's head and body with a nice combination.

Inoki is rocked!
Akira Tomioka seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Tomioka stuffs the takedown.
Oh Inoki is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Inoki shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Inoki throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Tomioka's waist but Tomioka gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Inoki off to one side.
Inoki seems to have got his legs back now.
Tomioka wants to clinch.

Tomioka fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Inoki, pushing him back against the cage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Tomioka connects with a knee to the head.

Tomioka breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Inoki shoots in and drives through. Tomioka sprawls well.
Tomioka wants to clinch up but Inoki keeps it at a distance.
Ohhhhh! A huge head kick from Tomioka! Inoki is out on his feet! Tomioka rushes in and throws more strikes. The ref is looking closely - Inoki is covering up but the punishment is just too much and the ref steps in to stop the fight! Inoki is staring into space, just thankful that the beatdown has ended. Brutal finish.
