0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ian McPherson! The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Shigeki Sano and Kenichi Hosakawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McPherson gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. McPherson scores with a nice hook to the head.
It looks like Danny Trejo has been cut. McPherson lands a nice uppercut. McPherson gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. McPherson trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. McPherson throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Trejo works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Trejo looking to hit a scissor sweep but McPherson is one step ahead there. McPherson is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. McPherson wants to pass the guard but Trejo is keeping the position. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Trejo is trying to keep McPherson in close.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Trejo preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. McPherson passes Trejo's left leg - he's now in half guard. Trejo has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. McPherson is working away from the top position though.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Trejo fails to land the takedown.
That's one minute gone in the round. Trejo displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination. Trejo fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Trejo scores with a decent looking hook. McPherson leaves Trejo with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Danny Trejo. That's going to take a lot out of him. Trejo uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by McPherson.
McPherson takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
McPherson rushes Trejo and pushes him back against the ropes in a clinch. McPherson scores with a shoulder strike. McPherson lands a hook that snaps the head of Trejo backwards. McPherson scores with a shot to the side of Trejo's head. McPherson is working Trejo over against the ropes. Trejo is breathing heavily. McPherson lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage. McPherson throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Trejos head. A short body shot lands from McPherson as the two fighters clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! McPherson lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Trejo. Nice body punch from McPherson - that landed with a thud.
McPherson lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Trejo backwards. McPherson throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Trejos head. McPherson has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Trejo clear over his head and slammed him to the mat! Watch the back of the head! Comes the shout from the referee towards McPherson.
Trejo covering up well under a barage of strikes. McPherson lands shots from the back. McPherson is working the ground and pound here and the referee is taking a close look at Trejo. He must escape soon or this one will be stopped. McPherson trying desperately to keep hold of the dominant position.

That's three minutes gone in the round. McPherson throwing wild punches that miss their target. McPherson gets his hooks in and is throwing strikes. McPherson lands a couple of good shots to his opponent's body and a final shot to the head. Good little attack there by McPherson.

McPherson scores with punches and elbows. McPherson is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Trejo defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined. McPherson tries to keep control of the position but Trejo is staying busy. Trejo is taking damage to the body and head. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! McPherson landing with strikes. McPherson has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Trejo tries to break free.
McPherson wants to control but Trejo is keeping busy. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Trejo closes this distance looking for a takedown but McPherson circles away. Trejo swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

McPherson is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Trejo. Danny Trejo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. McPherson avoids the body shot from Trejo.
The fighters circling - McPherson throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Trejo throws a combination but it was largely blocked by McPherson. McPherson doesn't manage to clinch there - Trejo circles away.

McPherson gets a clinch. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. McPherson is pressed up against the ropes. Trejo has hold of a leg and is looking to drag McPherson down to the mat. McPherson avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. McPherson moves into range and clinches up with Trejo. McPherson lands an uppercut. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. McPherson works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. McPherson thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Trejo's head.

He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. McPherson throwing shots but Trejo is blocking nicely. McPherson has been the more effective fighter overall so far. McPherson looks to score some points with some ground and pound. McPherson works his way into side control. McPherson lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. McPherson working the ground and pound but Trejo is defending the strikes. Trejo takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. Trejo is not content to let McPherson control the position. McPherson cracks Trejo with a big right hand but Trejo just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Trejo parries the strikes from McPherson easily there. McPherson is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Trejo to escape.

McPherson might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Trejo kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Trejo is looking for a sweep.

Not really close to a finish though. McPherson working the body and head with strikes. Trejo taking a bit of punishment here - McPherson scoring with strikes. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. McPherson creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Trejo sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. Trejo is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Trejo throwing some weak shots from the bottom that do no damage.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Trejo misses with a hook. McPherson ducked under it nicely. Trejo tries to keep at a distance but McPherson has taken the fight into the clinch. McPherson pushes Trejo back against the ropes and lands a hook to the side of the head. McPherson gets through Trejo's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. McPherson lands a right hand that snaps the head of Trejo backwards. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. A body shot lands from McPherson.
McPherson pushes Trejo back against the ropes and unloads with a body punch. McPherson is leaning against Trejo and scores with a nice uppercut to the body. A nice left hand lands by McPherson.

Ian McPherson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Danny Trejo's cut. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! And we move into the final round!

McPherson walks forward and throws a big overhand right! Trejo drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes! McPherson swarms on him with more punches until the referee wrestles him away from Trejo's unconscious body! Wow, that was brutal!
