Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 14 - 1, fighting out of New York, Fingers McTwist!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Henri Marshall!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Anthony Taglia and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marshall shoots for a double leg takedown but McTwist sprawls well. He's pushed Marshall's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Marshall shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has McTwist pinned against the cage. McTwist gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

McTwist takes the fight into the clinch.

McTwist wants the takedown. Marshall is fighting it off but McTwist persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Marshall's guard against the cage.
Marshall is trying to control the position but McTwist postures up.
McTwist throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Marshall has his hands on McTwist's head, controlling the position.
Marshall is striking from the bottom but McTwist uses the opportunity to pass into half guard.

McTwist is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Marshall wants to improve his position but McTwist is controlling well.
Marshall is staying active underneath McTwist, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Marshall is looking to control McTwist's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Marshall avoid being mounted?

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

McTwist gets in close and instigates a clinch.

McTwist jumps guard and drags Marshall to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Marshall postures up and lands a big shot to McTwist's brow.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

McTwist is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Marshall is aware though and is defending well.

McTwist is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Marshall pulls his head out easily.
McTwist is breathing heavily.
Marshall not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Marshall fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but McTwist avoids it really well and circles away.
Fingers McTwist has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Henri Marshall.
Marshall shoots in looking for a takedown. McTwist tries to sprawl out of it but Marshall keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. McTwist manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

McTwist has managed to clinch.

McTwist jumps into guard, dragging Marshall to the mat.
Marshall tries to free his leg and advance position but McTwist is retaining full guard.

McTwist looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Marshall passes into side control.

A lull in the action here.

Marshall wants to control but McTwist is keeping him busy.
McTwist takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Marshall landing strikes.
McTwist manages to get back to half guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
McTwist trying to control from the bottom.
McTwist tries to get to full guard but Marshall has control of the leg.
Marshall controlling the action here.
McTwist is trying to control but can't.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Fingers McTwist dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Marshall shoots in but McTwist avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Marshall tries to score a power double leg takedown but McTwist sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Marshall somewhat.

Fingers McTwist has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Henri Marshall.

McTwist closes the distance and clinches.
McTwist lands a left hand that snaps the head of Marshall backwards.


It looks like Henri Marshall has been cut.

McTwist is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Marshall can't fight it off and eventually McTwist manages to take the fight to the floor. Marshall looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as McTwist accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
McTwist passes Marshall's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Marshall is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Marshall trying to hold on to McTwist's head to control him but McTwist postures up.
McTwist not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

McTwist decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

Marshall gets caught flat footed, as McTwist shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Marshall really doesn't want to stay on the ground with McTwist. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Marshall is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Marshall manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. McTwist manages to get himself to full guard.

Marshall throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as McTwist works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

McTwist is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Marshall is aware though and is defending well.
Marshall looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Marshall lands a couple of elbows.
McTwist keeping moving, preventing Marshall from controlling successfully.
McTwist is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

McTwist wants to pass the guard but Marshall is defending well.
Marshall is trying to maintain the position but McTwist is very close to passing his half guard.
Marshall is looking for a sweep. McTwist is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Marshall can do anything to dispel that myth.

McTwist moves into full mount! Marshall won't be happy about that!

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
McTwist trying to control but Marshall is having none of it.
Marshall is looking to improve his position but McTwist isn't that keen on the idea.
Marshall is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!



Marshall shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
McTwist makes his way to full guard. A much better position for McTwist.
Marshall controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Let's hope that Marshall has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

McTwist is trying to keep Marshall in close.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Marshall closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
McTwist is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
McTwist tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Marshall wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
McTwist can't do much from the bottom here.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

McTwist closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Marshall to the mat! Marshall manages to get full guard.

Marshall is desperately trying to improve his position but McTwist has a good base and remains in mount.
McTwist can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Marshall is looking to escape.
Marshall tries to lock up and control but McTwist gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Henri Marshall has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Fingers McTwist is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
McTwist wants to control the pace but Marshall is squirming around nicely.

McTwist is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Marshall is surviving well by controlling McTwist's body position as best he can.

Henri Marshall comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well McTwist has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
