Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Shane MacKallister (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Carter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). MacKallister kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Four Horsemen by Metallica. Carter has chosen Til I Collapse by Eminem as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Shane MacKallister!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Carter!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Ian Loll and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
MacKallister tries to bum rush Carter with a series of wild strikes but Carter uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
MacKallister dives in and grabs Carter's left leg, looking for a takedown. Carter pushes down on MacKallister's head and hops out.
MacKallister moves in looking to clinch but Carter pushes him off.
MacKallister connects with a nice looking jab.
Carter on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Carter shoots in but no luck this time.

MacKallister rushes Carter and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Carter is trying to break free.

Carter breaks from the clinch.
Carter lands with a straight right. MacKallister didn't see that one coming.
Carter thows a body shot but no joy.
MacKallister shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
MacKallister lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
MacKallister misses with a jab, cross combination.
MacKallister avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

MacKallister shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Carter tries to hold on but MacKallister postures up.
MacKallister lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
MacKallister scores with a couple of good head shots there.
MacKallister lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
MacKallister tries to control but Carter wriggling away.
MacKallister controlling from the full mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

MacKallister working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Carter can do anything to dispel that myth.
MacKallister avoids the attempt from Carter to control.
Carter is squirming around, avoiding MacKallister's attempts to control the action.

Carter is trying desperately to improve position.
Carter's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
MacKallister trying to control but he's not successful this time.
MacKallister lands a big elbow.

Carter defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from MacKallister.
Carter is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Carter regains half guard.
Carter trying to control but MacKallister postures up.
MacKallister tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Carter.

Carter keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
MacKallister looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Carter with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
MacKallister wants to control but Carter is keeping him busy.
Carter is controlling MacKallister's position as best he can from this difficult position.
MacKallister has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
MacKallister not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Carter wants to get back to his feet.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
MacKallister fails with an attempt to clinch.

Excellent takedown into side control there by MacKallister.
Carter is trying to control MacKallister's posture but MacKallister avoids it.

Carter moves in looking to clinch but MacKallister pushes him off.

MacKallister escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Carter looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
MacKallister tries to close the distance and clinch up but Carter swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Carter tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

MacKallister fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Carter, pushing him back against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
MacKallister drops down looking for an ankle pick but Carter pulls his leg out and moves away.
MacKallister closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Carter is looking to clinch.

MacKallister gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Carter tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. MacKallister smiles and moves away.
Carter throws a leg kick but MacKallister sees it coming and checks it nicely.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Shane MacKallister. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Carter moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Carter slips a straight right by MacKallister.
Shane MacKallister is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

MacKallister shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Carter's guard.

Carter postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Carter makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

MacKallister might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

MacKallister has his foot on Carter's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Carter works his way back into a safe position though.

Carter sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

That was a close second round but I would say that Shane MacKallister will probably get the nod.

MacKallister tries to score a power double leg takedown but Carter sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten MacKallister somewhat.
Carter throws a right hand that MacKallister ducks under and follows up with a left that MacKallister also avoids with ease.

and Carter connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

and MacKallister counters with a lovely straight right hand!

A frustrated look appears on Carter's face as he tries to break the clinch.
MacKallister is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Carter gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Shane MacKallister. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Carter is trying to break the clinch but MacKallister is controlling him.

MacKallister breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Carter takes a swing at MacKallister's ribcage but misses.

Carter stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. MacKallister swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Carter's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Carter stops MacKallister from standing up.
MacKallister looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
MacKallister wants to get back to his feet but Carter is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
No joy there for MacKallister, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

MacKallister closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Carter did well to prevent MacKallister getting side control.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Well, if Carter is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
MacKallister fails with an attempt to clinch.

Carter gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Shane MacKallister is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

I would just about give that final round to John Carter.
Well MacKallister has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
