PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mike Child (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Maukka Perusjatka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mike Child!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Maukka Perusjatka!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Damien Edna and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Perusjatka pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Perusjatka feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Child working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Perusjatka doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Perusjatka manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Perusjatka tries to stand but Child is controlling from the bottom.
Child might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Perusjatka keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Child's head.
Perusjatka wants to stand but Child is controlling his posture from full guard.
Perusjatka loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Child is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Perusjatka with a flurry of punches that miss.
Child looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Perusjatka wanted to stand there but Child had control of the position.
Child not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Child looking for a guillotine here but Perusjatka defends easily.

Perusjatka stands and steps away. Child gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Child fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Perusjatka sprawls well initially but Child persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Perusjatka is trying to get back to full guard.
Perusjatka punching from the bottom.
Child is trying to control the action in half guard but Perusjatka is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Child wants to work for an arm triangle but Perusjatka is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Child is breathing heavily.
Child missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Child trying to pass the guard but Perusjatka defending well.

Child is working for a kimura but Perusjatka is defending it quite comfortably.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Perusjatka can do anything to dispel that myth.
Child prevents Perusjatka from improving his position.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Child misses with a takedown attempt
and Perusjatka counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Child.
Child landing strikes.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Child is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Perusjatka is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Child is looking to take a break and control but Perusjatka is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Child works to advance to full mount. Perusjatka defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Child trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Child is standing up, even though he is in mount.

and Perusjatka counters with a takedown into side control.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!
Perusjatka connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Child some visible discomfort.
Child is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Perusjatka is controlling him well.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Perusjatka lands an elbow.
Perusjatka working the body and head with strikes.
Child could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Child is looking for a sweep.
Child gets back to half guard.
Perusjatka really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Child. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Child wants to improve his position but Perusjatka is controlling well.
Child is working hard here to advance position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Perusjatka stands up out of the half guard.
Perusjatka clobbers Child with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Child shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Perusjatka counters with a left and a right that stings Child.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mike Child. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Child looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Perusjatka is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Child dives into side control.
Child working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.

Child has an Americana. Perusjatka didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Child is delighted and gyrates infront of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Child hooks up with any of them at the after show party.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:54 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Mike Child!
