Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Nakata Ko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mario Florian (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ko has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, William Gold and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ko throws a sloppy head kick and Florian moves out of range easily.
Florian throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Ko.

Ko shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Florian but Florian pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Ko has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Ko lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Florian circles away quickly and effectively.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Florian has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Ko is trying to keep an underhook but Florian manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Florian looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Ko with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Ko seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Florian is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Florian unloads with some shots from mount but Ko bucks and avoids them well.

Florian swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Ko is now in Florian's guard. A big mistake from Florian there, giving up the dominant position!

Nakata Ko is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Nakata Ko.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Ko, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
