PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Cumin Getsum (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jon Harris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jon Harris is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Cumin Getsum!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jon Harris!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Jonathan Paton and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Getsum slips under a jab.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Getsum.

Getsum closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Harris did well to prevent Getsum getting side control.

Harris makes his way to full guard, as Getsum worked for a kimura.
Getsum stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Harris swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Getsum drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Harris dives on top into guard.

Getsum is working an open guard so Harris takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Harris misses with a hook.
Getsum shoots for a takedown but Harris saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Getsum shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Harris is trying to defend but Getsum finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Getsum seems to be looking for submissions.

Harris is defending against the submission attempts here by Getsum.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Harris is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Getsum is trying to work for a kimura but Harris is defending well.
Harris wants to improve his position but Getsum is controlling well.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Getsum looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Harris makes his way to full guard, as Getsum worked for a kimura.

Getsum tries to free his leg and advance position but Harris is retaining full guard.
Harris pulls Getsum in close to his closed guard and prevents Getsum from doing any damage or advancing position.
Getsum wants to pass the guard but Harris is keeping the position.

Harris has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Getsum off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Cumin Getsum seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Getsum closes this distance looking for a takedown but Harris circles away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Cumin Getsum. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Harris misses the shot to the body.

Getsum looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Getsum seems to be working for a kimura but Harris defends the submission attempt.
Getsum trying to advance position but Harris counters by regaining guard.

Getsum drops back, looking for a kneebar! Harris looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Harris looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Harris!
Getsum on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Jon Harris will probably get the nod.
That's time! Getsum's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Getsum blocks a jab.

Getsum shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Getsum was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Harris is trying to escape the mount.

Getsum goes for an armbar but Harris turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Harris.
Harris sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Getsum's guard.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Harris lands a nice short elbow.

Harris is looking for a kimura here.
Getsum works his way to full guard. Good work.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Getsum escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Harris gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Harris is sitting in close to Getsum's body. Getsum has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Harris is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Harris is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Getsum.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:29 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Cumin Getsum!
