Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Brian Walsh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Will Messinger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Will Messinger will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Brian Walsh!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Will Messinger!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Donatello Bradman and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Walsh scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Walsh takes a swing at Messinger's ribcage but misses.

Messinger pushes Walsh up against the cage in a clinch.
Messinger goes for a takedown in the clinch but Walsh prevents it.
Messinger tries to score a body lock takedown but Walsh shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Walsh has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Brian Walsh is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Walsh scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Messinger tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Messinger looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Messinger shoots in and bounces Walsh off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Messinger accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Messinger stands up and waves to Walsh to follow him.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Walsh scores with a sloppy right hand. Messinger should have avoided that one.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Walsh fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Messinger manages to avoid it.
Walsh swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Messinger bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Walsh's head backwards.
Messinger fails to land the takedown.
Messinger shoots in for a takedown but Walsh shows good takedown defense.
Messinger lands a nice looking kick to the body. Walsh takes a step back to recover.
Walsh cracks a nice hook into Messinger's ribs.
Messinger uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Walsh.

Walsh lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Messinger at a distance.
Walsh throws a right hand that Messinger ducks under and follows up with a left that Messinger also avoids with ease.

Walsh rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Messinger moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Messinger jumps guard and drags Walsh to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Messinger escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Walsh gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Walsh wants to stand but Messinger has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Messinger is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Walsh is refusing to be controlled, as Messinger sits in half guard.

Walsh tries to get to full guard but Messinger has control of the leg.
Walsh is trying to control but Messinger manages to pass to mount!
Messinger looking to control but Walsh is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Messinger throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

That was a close second round but I would say that Brian Walsh will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Brian Walsh.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Walsh, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
