Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Di BOXE! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Dylan Laidlaw! The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Emerson Jorge and Paulo Santos.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! BOXE rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Laidlaw moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Laidlaw feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Laidlaw would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Laidlaw gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. The fight stays on the outside here - BOXE looks like he's thinking about clinching though. A head kick misses from BOXE. BOXE swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

BOXE tries to bum rush Laidlaw with a series of wild strikes but Laidlaw uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Laidlaw darts in and clinches BOXE up against the cage. BOXE working hard to break the clinch. BOXE misses with a hook from the clinch. Laidlaw decides to pull guard. BOXE sitting in guard here, content to control. BOXE wants to control from the top but Laidlaw keeps moving.
That's one minute gone in the round. Laidlaw working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from BOXE. Laidlaw controlling the position. BOXE wants to pass the guard but Laidlaw is keeping the position. Laidlaw trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage. Laidlaw is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Laidlaw looking for a sweep. Not yet Laidlaw, not yet.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Laidlaw darts in and clinches BOXE up against the cage. BOXE tries to pull guard but Laidlaw holds him up against the cage and eventually BOXE drops back down to his feet.
Laidlaw misses with a shot to the kidneys.
BOXE is looking to break free of the clinch but Laidlaw has double underhooks. BOXE misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Laidlaw.
Laidlaw is pressed up against the cage. BOXE has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Laidlaw down to the mat. Laidlaw avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Laidlaw closes the distance and clinches.
That's two minutes gone in the round. BOXE has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Laidlaw avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Di BOXE. That's going to take a lot out of him. BOXE looking for a takedown. Laidlaw gets through BOXE's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. Laidlaw has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. BOXE is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. BOXE tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. BOXE has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Laidlaw uses from the top position. Laidlaw pushing down on BOXE's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Laidlaw is figuring out what he wants to do next. Laidlaw wants to free his trapped foot but BOXE is holding on for dear life with his legs. BOXE wants to get back to full guard. BOXE scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Laidlaw manages to mount him!

That's three minutes gone in the round. Laidlaw wants to control the pace but BOXE is squirming around nicely. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Laidlaw controlling the position easily from mount. Laidlaw blocks BOXE's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom. BOXE is trying to reverse the position but instead Laidlaw has taken his back - oops! Can BOXE hold on?! Laidlaw is landing more strikes to his hapless foe.
Laidlaw looking to break BOXE's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. BOXE remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Laidlaw will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke! BOXE covers up after taking a massive shot to the side of the head.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Laidlaw lands a shot to the body. Laidlaw has good solid back control here. BOXE is trying to get back to his feet but Laidlaw has full control of the position and if anything, BOXE has just worked his way into a worse spot. BOXE trying to control but not successfully. Good control from Laidlaw. I really don't envy BOXE right now.
BOXE is taking damage to the body and head. Laidlaw connects with a series of strikes and the referee is calling for BOXE to escape the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Dylan Laidlaw dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
BOXE stuffs the takedown. BOXE darts in trying to clinch and Laidlaw counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for BOXE! BOXE is working to get back to half guard.
BOXE is squirming around, avoiding Laidlaw's attempts to control the action. BOXE in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. BOXE prevents Laidlaw from taking his back. Laidlaw controlling the position easily from mount.
That's one minute gone in the round. BOXE gets back to half guard. Dylan Laidlaw has got the better of the ground game so far. BOXE is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Laidlaw pulls his head out easily. BOXE wants to improve his position but Laidlaw is controlling well.

That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. BOXE taking some punishment here, with Laidlaw in his half guard. Laidlaw wants to take a breather but BOXE is having none of it. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Laidlaw lands a nice short elbow. BOXE is not content to let Laidlaw control the position. Laidlaw working over BOXE with some ground and pound. BOXE looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Laidlaw trying to control the action but BOXE is working from the bottom. Laidlaw performing his best blanket impression for a moment. BOXE wants to get back to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Laidlaw looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. BOXE wants to improve his position but Laidlaw is controlling well.
BOXE moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Laidlaw has gone for a leg lock! BOXE slips out almost immediately though and dives into Laidlaw's guard.

BOXE drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Laidlaw manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now BOXE has Laidlaw in his guard. BOXE is looking for a triangle here but Laidlaw uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Laidlaw is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down BOXE's shoulder. That is not cool. Check out the look on Laidlaw's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!

Dylan Laidlaw showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
BOXE throws a combination. Laidlaw tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
It looks like Dylan Laidlaw has been cut. BOXE is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Laidlaw's half guard. Laidlaw is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. BOXE wants to take a breather but Laidlaw is having none of it. Laidlaw is trying to get back to full guard. BOXE is pressing down on Laidlaw's thigh, looking to free his foot. Laidlaw is holding on for now. Laidlaw blocking the ground and pound attempt from BOXE. BOXE looks to land a strike but Laidlaw avoids it nicely and regains full guard. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as BOXE accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Laidlaw kicks BOXE off and gets to his feet.

BOXE is trying to maintain a safe position but Laidlaw gets an underhook and turns BOXE into the cage. BOXE throws an elbow but it misses.
Laidlaw gets a trip takedown into half guard. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Laidlaw working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. BOXE trying to get back to full guard but Laidlaw takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount! Laidlaw get's back to his feet. Laidlaw misses with a takedown attempt and BOXE counters with a nice double leg into guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Laidlaw keeping moving, preventing BOXE from controlling successfully. BOXE throwing strikes but missing. BOXE won't allow Laidlaw to sweep him here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Laidlaw has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Laidlaw wants to stand and escape but BOXE is having none of it. BOXE is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Laidlaw tries to land a sweep but no joy. BOXE with a nice head shot there. BOXE working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. BOXE drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says BOXE as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Laidlaw screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with BOXE! Nice submission victory there!
