Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Vincini Rossini! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jon Hawks! The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Ian Loll and Elvis Blanc.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hawks lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Hawks lands with a nice combination. Rossini backs away looking to recover. No joy there for Hawks, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
A solid leg kick lands there for Hawks.
Hawks throws a series of punches but Rossini avoids them all with ease. Rossini shoots in looking for a takedown. Hawks tries to sprawl out of it but Rossini keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Hawks manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Hawks throws a quick inside leg kick. Hawks will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
A slapping leg kick lands for Hawks.
Hawks is looking to slow Rossini down with leg kicks. Rossini shoots in looking for a takedown. Hawks tries to sprawl out of it but Rossini keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Hawks manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Rossini closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Hawks is trying to buck Rossini off. Rossini scores with a couple of short elbows. Rossini tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Rossini has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Hawks is not content to let Rossini control the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hawks is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Rossini is controlling him well. Rossini is breathing heavily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Hawks is looking to get back to his feet here but Rossini is keeping cool and he's managed to take Hawks's back. Hawks is trying to get back to his feet but Rossini has full control of the position and if anything, Hawks has just worked his way into a worse spot. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hawks wants to get back to his feet. He's half way up but Rossini drags him back down with a jolt, managing to get his forearm deep under Hawks 's chin! Hawks is in real trouble! His face is turning bright red and he's forced to tap! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:03 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Vincini Rossini!
