Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Urijah Penn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and matty schmidt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Penn tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Penn swats away the attempt to clinch by schmidt.
Urijah Penn seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Penn shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

schmidt is looking for a sweep. Penn is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
schmidt is trying to stand up here but Penn is controlling him well.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if schmidt can do anything to dispel that myth.

Penn wants to work for an arm triangle but schmidt is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

schmidt takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Penn shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Penn was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Penn can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as schmidt is looking to escape.
schmidt tries to lock up and control but Penn gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Penn has hold of schmidt's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and schmidt manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Penn lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
schmidt is in a horrible position here. Penn smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Penn's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

schmidt stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and schmidt wants it to stay on the feet.
schmidt tries to close the distance and clinch but Penn swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Penn changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

Penn wants to hold on but schmidt pushes him away.

Penn sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Penn is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of schmidt's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take schmidt's back!
