Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ronald Carr! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Steve Johnson! The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Shirou Masuda and Hirohito Nitta.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Carr changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Johnson looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Johnson is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Carr is controlling him well. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Johnson takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Carr lands a nice forearm strike. Carr misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Johnson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Carr. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Carr landing with the ground and pound. The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Johnson connects with a jab. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Carr has a takedown stuffed. Johnson uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Carr is trying hard to land a takedown here. Johnson sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ronald Carr. That's going to take a lot out of him. Johnson lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt. Carr shoots for a double leg takedown but Johnson sprawls well. He's pushed Carr's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. The fight stays on the outside here - Johnson looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Johnson is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range. Carr avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Carr darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Johnson has hold of Carr's hands but Carr slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Carr is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Carr winds up and cracks Johnson with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Carr seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Carr looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Johnson with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Carr thows a huge punch but Johnson dodges it nicely.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Carr drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Carr landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Carr landing a few strikes. Carr misses with an attempted head punch from side control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Carr takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away. Carr closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Johnson takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Carr with the ground and pound but Johnson uses the opportunity to regain guard. Johnson utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Ronald Carr overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Carr postures up in Johnson's guard and throws a big left but Johnson blocks it. And that's the end of the fight! Ronald Carr showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Carr, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
