Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mike Haggar! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bob Builder! The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Russell Pearce and Steve Montenegro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Builder is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Haggar. Haggar fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Haggar throws a right and a left that both miss. Haggar moves away from the strike by Builder. Builder looks to throw the jab but Haggar is out of range. Haggar throws out a loose jab but Builder uses good head movement to avoid it. Builder waves his right hand out in front of him, looking to distract Haggar. Oh, he's unloaded a beast of a left hand - it worked! He's dropped Haggar to the canvas! Can he finish him!?
Haggar is rocked!
It looks like Mike Haggar has been cut. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Builder is looking to stand up but Haggar won't let him. Oh Haggar is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Haggar has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Builder off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds. Haggar seems to have got his legs back now. Builder throws a hook to the side of Haggar's head but Haggar sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Builder is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Haggar. Builder moves away from the strike by Haggar. Haggar throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Builder was covering up waiting for the punch and Haggar finishes the takedown easily into guard. Haggar knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Builder on the ground. Haggar throws a big right hand that misses. Haggar throwing strikes from guard but Builder blocks nicely.
That's one minute gone in the round. Haggar wants to stand but Builder is controlling his posture from full guard. Haggar postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Haggar with a flurry of punches that miss. Builder wants to get back to his feet but Haggar is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Haggar working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Builder's head. Haggar keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Builder's head.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Haggar thows a big elbow that misses. Haggar throws a strike but Builder rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Haggar wants to stand and escape but Builder is having none of it. Haggar is breathing heavily. Haggar has a closed guard, preventing Builder from standing up. Haggar will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Haggar kicks Builder off and gets to his feet. Haggar tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Builder swivels and escapes. A jab from Builder misses. Builder misses with a hook. Builder misses with a straight right. Builder slips a jab and a cross from Haggar.
Builder is really struggling to land any decent head shots against his taller opponent. Builder misses with a straight right.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A big left from Builder misses. Haggar closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Haggar lands in his opponent's guard. Haggar with a flurry of punches that miss. Haggar stands and steps away. Builder gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Haggar displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Builder throws out the jab. Builder might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable. Some wild striking there from Haggar.
Builder misses with an uppercut. Haggar saw that one coming. Haggar shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Builder is trying to defend but Haggar finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Haggar not landing any meaningful shots this time.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Haggar is looking to stand up but he'll have to free his leg first. Instead, Builder manages to get to full guard. Haggar connects with a couple of short punches. Builder working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Haggar. Haggar throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Builder avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Haggar postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Mike Haggar will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Mike Haggar's cut. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Builder misses with an uppercut. Haggar rushes Builder and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Haggar gets a nice trip takedown into half guard. Haggar throwing shots but Builder is blocking nicely. Builder regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Haggar. Builder is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Haggar is controlling him. Haggar is looking to stand up but Builder won't let him. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Haggar accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Haggar postures up in Builder's guard and throws a big left but Builder blocks it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Builder preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Haggar with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Haggar throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Builder works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Builder scores with a jab to the jaw. Haggar closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Builder did well to prevent Haggar getting side control. Haggar misses with a head shot. Builder uses the momentum to regain guard. Haggar lands a couple of decent looking shots.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Haggar keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Builder's head. Builder preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Haggar shoots in and drives through. Builder sprawls well. A right-left combo lands from Haggar. Haggar shoots in but no luck this time. Haggar misses with a takedown attempt - Builder sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mike Haggar. That's going to take a lot out of him. Builder looks to land a left hand but Haggar moved out of range nicely. Builder moves out of range of the strikes. Builder misses with an uppercut. Haggar saw that one coming. Haggar decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Haggar missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Builder keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Builder blocking the ground and pound attempt from Haggar.

Haggar tries to bum rush Builder with a series of wild strikes but Builder uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Haggar moves out of range of the strikes. Excellent takedown into side control there by Haggar. The strikes coming from Haggar are missing the target in this wave of attacks. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mike Haggar dominated that second round. The cut man is working on Mike Haggar's cut. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!
Builder throws a looping overhand right but Haggar ducks down to avoid it. Builder throws a shot from downtown. Haggar moves away and avoids it. A telegraphed right hand from Builder misses the target. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Haggar. Nice defenses there by Haggar. Good shot there by Haggar. Haggar shoots in but Builder avoids the takedown attempt easily. Builder throws a shot from downtown. Haggar moves away and avoids it. Haggar keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Builder. Haggar darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Builder taking some punishment here, with Haggar in his half guard. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Haggar takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Haggar throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Nice strikes from Haggar there. Haggar throwing shots but Builder is blocking nicely. Haggar winds up and cracks Builder with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Builder tries to kick Haggar off but Haggar keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Haggar is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Haggar not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Bob Builder has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Haggar missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Builder is trying to stand back up but Haggar is controlling him
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Haggar clinches up against the cage. Haggar has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Builder regains guard immediately. Haggar throws a strike but Builder rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Builder drops back looking for a leg! Haggar is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Haggar manages to kick Builder off! Builder jumps back into Haggar's guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Builder tries to stand but Haggar is controlling from the bottom. Mike Haggar is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Haggar wriggles free and stands up. Bob Builder seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Haggar throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Builder. Mike Haggar is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Builder throws the left hand but Haggar avoids the punch easily. Haggar shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Builder napping and manages to drive through into side control! Haggar remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Builder is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Haggar is controlling him well. Haggar happy to just control the position for now. Haggar scores with a couple of short elbows.
And that's the end of the fight! Mike Haggar showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Haggar, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
