Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Frank Valdez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ron Jacobs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jacobs has chosen Welcome Home by Coheed & Cambria as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Frank Valdez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ron Jacobs!
The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jacobs tries to close the distance and clinch up but Valdez swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Valdez is trying hard to land a takedown here. Jacobs sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Valdez gets the takedown into side control.

Valdez decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Jacobs fails with an attempt to clinch.

Jacobs fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Valdez, pushing him back against the cage.
Valdez is looking to break free of the clinch but Jacobs has double underhooks.

Jacobs has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Valdez uses from the top position.

Valdez decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Jacobs, up you get!

Jacobs stalks Valdez and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Valdez's face. Valdez staggers backwards, shaken.

Jacobs is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Valdez's half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Valdez tries to kick Jacobs off but Jacobs keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Jacobs throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Valdez kicks off Jacobs and gets to his feet.
Ron Jacobs seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jacobs closes the distance but Valdez moves to the side

and Valdez counters with a single leg into guard. Jacobs didn't expect that.

Jacobs wants to clinch but Valdez slips to the side

so Valdez counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Valdez gets to his feet. Jacobs looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Valdez stuffs the takedown attempt from Jacobs. Jacobs gets slowly back to his feet.

and Valdez counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Jacobs's guard now.

Jacobs lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Valdez or not.

Jacobs's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Valdez dives in and grabs Jacobs's left leg, looking for a takedown. Jacobs pushes down on Valdez's head and hops out.

Valdez shoots for a double leg takedown but Jacobs sprawls well. He's pushed Valdez's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Jacobs breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Valdez fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Jacobs, pushing him back against the cage.

Jacobs is looking to control Valdez's arms but Valdez gets an underhook and turns him. Now Jacobs has his back to the cage.
Jacobs is looking to break free of the clinch but Valdez has double underhooks.

Valdez gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Jacobs tries to score a body lock takedown but Valdez shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Jacobs jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Valdez walks away with a smile on his face. Jacobs gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Valdez is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Jacobs can do to turn this around?

Valdez jumps guard and drags Jacobs to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Valdez throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Jacobs was covering up waiting for the punch and Valdez finishes the takedown easily into guard.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Jacobs looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Valdez puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Valdez, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
