PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Frank Sinatra (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kevin Durant (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 4 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Frank Sinatra!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kevin Durant!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Chris Downing and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A looping hook to the body misses from Sinatra. Durant does a little dance to reset his feet.
Durant slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
A nice leg kick lands there from Durant.
Durant pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Durant throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Sinatra.


It looks like Frank Sinatra has been cut.
Durant throws a series of punches but Sinatra moves out of range.
Durant keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Durant on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Durant feints and then cracks Sinatra's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Sinatra down.

Sinatra drives through with a takedown into guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Durant can do anything to dispel that myth.
Durant keeping busy, throwing shots from the bottom.
Durant keeping full guard, as Sinatra tries to pass.
Durant looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Durant looking for subs off his back but Sinatra has passed one foot through into half guard.
Sinatra looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Durant tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Durant looks like he's trying to stand up.
Durant missing with punches from the bottom.
Durant wants to get back to his feet.
Sinatra uses his free foot to push down on Durant's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Durant.
Sinatra takes his opponent's back. Perhaps a chance to lock up a rear naked choke here.

Sinatra is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Durant is defending well though. Sinatra let's go of the attempt for now.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Sinatra has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sinatra throwing sloppy strikes.
Durant really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sinatra. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Sinatra is not going to allow Durant to sit and survive in this position.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Durant breaks Sinatra's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

Sinatra looking for a guillotine here but Durant defends easily.
Sinatra is breathing heavily.
Durant postures up in Sinatra's guard and throws a big left but Sinatra blocks it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Durant trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Durant working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Durant postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Durant tries to free his leg and advance position but Sinatra is retaining full guard.
Sinatra has control of Durant's left arm, preventing Durant from doing any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Durant throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Nice uppercut lands for Sinatra. That snapped Durant's head back.
Sinatra swings for the body but Durant moves out of range.
Durant misses with a kick to the body.
Sinatra walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Durant throws a big shot that misses.
Durant throws a head kick but Sinatra moves out of range.
Sinatra throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Durant's waist but Durant gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Sinatra off to one side.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Durant tries to bum rush Sinatra with a series of wild strikes but Sinatra uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Sinatra shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Sinatra lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Durant actively working from the bottom here.
Sinatra scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Durant tries to roll over but Sinatra keeps him under control.
Sinatra is trying to control the action in half guard but Durant is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Durant is looking to regain full guard. He's left an arm up in the air though and Sinatra has latched onto it... Big trouble! Sinatra pivots for an armbar - it's in tight and it Durant is tapping in no time flat! Great counter grappling there from Sinatra!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Frank Sinatra!
