Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ivan Vanko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Karim Chamakh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vanko's entrance music is Ace of Spades. A fine choice. Chamakh has chosen Linda Sundblad - To All My Girls as his entrance music. The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ivan Vanko!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Karim Chamakh!
The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Viktor Lagutenko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Chamakh shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Vanko manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Chamakh slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Vanko looking for a sweep. Not yet Vanko, not yet.
Chamakh should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Chamakh is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Vanko keeping full guard, as Chamakh tries to pass.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Chamakh looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Vanko looking to hit a scissor sweep but Chamakh is one step ahead there.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Chamakh slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Karim Chamakh dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!



Chamakh scores a takedown into full mount!
Chamakh tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Chamakh wants to take Vanko's back here but Vanko is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.
Vanko wants to control but Chamakh is having none of it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Chamakh controlling the position easily from mount.
Vanko keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Chamakh controlling the pace for now.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Despite being in the dominant position, Karim Chamakh just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Chamakh feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Vanko controls Chamakh momentarily but Chamakh frees himself.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Vanko is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Chamakh is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Karim Chamakh showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. And we move into the final round!



Chamakh closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Still in half guard, Chamakh seems content to control.
Chamakh trying to pass the guard but Vanko defending well.
Vanko tries to kick Chamakh off in order to stand up. Chamakh Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
You can see the frustration on Vanko's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Chamakh is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Vanko is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Chamakh has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Karim Chamakh is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Chamakh tries to move to mount but Vanko blocks the move with his legs.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Vanko is looking to reverse the position.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
A thudding body kick lands there by Vanko!
Ivan Vanko seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Chamakh shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Vanko but Vanko pushes him off and we're back to square one.

and Chamakh counters with a nice double leg into side control. Vanko won't be happy with that.
Chamakh tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Chamakh tries to advance position but instead Vanko slips a leg back in to half guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Karim Chamakh comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Chamakh winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
