The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bickle darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Bickle is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Bickle is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Schmidt doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Bickle.
Schmidt gets full guard.
Schmidt controls Bickle momentarily but Bickle frees himself.

Schmidt working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Bickle doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Bickle manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Bickle wants to control from the top but Schmidt keeps moving.
Schmidt controls Bickle momentarily but Bickle frees himself.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Bickle is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Schmidt is looking for a triangle but Bickle pushes his legs off easily.

Schmidt escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Bickle gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Bickle decides to stand up, so the ref orders Schmidt to his feet.

Schmidt seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Schmidt has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Bickle is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Schmidt yanks on the arm and Bickle is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Schmidt.
