Andrews comes to the cage accompanied by Slipknot - Wait and Bleed. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Matt Andrews!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kevin Hughes!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Gregory Folan and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Andrews stuffs the takedown.
Hughes fails with a takedown attempt.
Hughes pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Hughes slips under a jab.
Andrews tries to clinch there but Hughes circles away.
Hughes's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Hughes duly obliges.


It looks like Matt Andrews has been cut.
Hughes shoots in but Andrews avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Matt Andrews has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kevin Hughes.

Andrews drives through with a takedown into guard.
Hughes is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Andrews is looking to stand up but Hughes won't let him.

Hughes is working an open guard so Andrews takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Andrews throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Hughes shoots in for a takedown but Andrews shows good takedown defense.
Andrews is breathing heavily.
Hughes needs to keep his hands up - Andrews had a free shot at his head there.

Hughes misses with a takedown

and Andrews counters by clinching up.
Hughes is trying to break the clinch but Andrews has him pressed against the cage.
Andrews has had enough of the clinch but Hughes keeps him there for the moment.
Hughes on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Hughes goes for a takedown in the clinch but Andrews prevents it.

Hughes jumps guard.

Andrews avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Andrews stands and steps away. Hughes gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Hughes looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Andrews is fending him off so far but Hughes persists. Nope, Andrews circles away and we're back to standing.
Hughes keeps the fight on the outside.
No luck for Hughes with that takedown attempt.

Hughes looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Ground and pound from Hughes.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Hughes is trying to work for a kimura but Andrews is defending well.
Hughes has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Hughes stops Andrews from getting back to his feet.

Andrews is trying to maintain the position but Hughes is very close to passing his half guard.

Hughes seems to be looking for submissions.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Andrews makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Hughes walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Andrews closes the distance and clinches.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Hughes turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Hughes manages to end up in side control.
Sloppy strikes there by Hughes.
Hughes slows the pace down.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hughes lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Andrews knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hughes on the ground.
Andrews is trying to get back to half guard.
Andrews is working hard here to advance position.
Hughes wants to control for a moment but Andrews uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.
Hughes wants to control but Andrews is keeping busy.
Hughes gets back to full guard.
Hughes keeping moving, preventing Andrews from controlling successfully.
Andrews wants to get up but he can't break Hughes's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Hughes has his feet on Andrews's thighs here. He's pushed Andrews off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Andrews screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
