PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Swiridow Swiridow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bratuha Pacanchika (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Swiridow Swiridow!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Bratuha Pacanchika!
The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Vladimir Khabensky and Aleksei Zolotukhin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pacanchika wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

Pacanchika scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Pacanchika prevents Swiridow from improving his position.
Swiridow is in trouble now - Pacanchika has advanced to mount!
Swiridow is in all sorts of trouble here.
Swiridow holds on for dear life, controlling Pacanchika's posture momentarily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Swiridow wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
Pacanchika really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Swiridow.
Can Swiridow hold on?! Pacanchika is landing more strikes to his hapless foe.

Swiridow trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.

Swiridow manages to reverse the position and now he's in Pacanchika's guard. Nice work there by Swiridow.
Pacanchika is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Pacanchika is adopting a defensive guard.
Pacanchika is trying to control the position from the bottom.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Swiridow tries to clinch but Pacanchika moves out of range.
Swiridow thows a body kick. Pacanchika tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Pacanchika looks gassed!

Swiridow moves into the clinch.
Swiridow lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Pacanchika or not.
Pacanchika trying to control the position but instead, Swiridow has worked for underhooks and has pushed Pacanchika into the cage.
Pacanchika tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Swiridow just stands there and leans against the cage.
Pacanchika wants a takedown.

Swiridow pulls guard effortlessly.
Pacanchika trying to control but Swiridow is working from the bottom.

Swiridow is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Swiridow trying to keep a closed guard but Pacanchika is proving a slippery customer.

Swiridow kicks Pacanchika off and gets to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Bratuha Pacanchika will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Swiridow throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Pacanchika.
Swiridow misses with a takedown attempt

and Pacanchika counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Pacanchika.
Swiridow tries for a takedown but Pacanchika manages to get underhooks.
Swiridow tries to pull guard but Pacanchika holds him up against the cage and eventually Swiridow drops back down to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Swiridow Swiridow. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Swiridow prevents Pacanchika from breaking the clinch.

Pacanchika breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Swiridow misses with a takedown

and Pacanchika counters with a takedown into side control.
A lull in the action here.
Let's hope that Pacanchika has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Pacanchika is looking to take a break and control but Swiridow is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Pacanchika lands a decent elbow from side control.
Pacanchika wants to lay and pray for a moment but Swiridow keeps working.
Swiridow manages to get back to half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Swiridow is refusing to be controlled, as Pacanchika sits in half guard.

Pacanchika decides to stand and escape the position.
Swiridow shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Pacanchika counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Pacanchika decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Swiridow.

Pacanchika closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Pacanchika lands in his opponent's guard.
Pacanchika would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Pacanchika looking to pass the guard.
Swiridow looking for a sweep. Not yet Swiridow, not yet.
Swiridow pulls Pacanchika in to control the position.
Pacanchika stands and throws Swiridow's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Pacanchika stands up and we're back to a striking position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Pacanchika wants to control the pace but Swiridow is squirming around nicely.
Pacanchika manages to capitalize on a mistake by Swiridow to take his back!
Swiridow breaks Pacanchika's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Pacanchika is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a tringle but Swiridow frees his head nicely. Oh but Pacanchika has switched to an armbar! Swiridow is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
