PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Kid Torres (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Steele (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Steele has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Torres darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Steele looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Torres lands a nice short elbow. Torres trying to control from half guard but Steele is working away. Torres content to control rather than advance. Torres is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Torres is looking for a kimura but Steele is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Torres to get the leverage. Still in half guard, Torres seems content to control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Torres seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Steele does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Torres works his foot free and advances to mount.
That's one minute gone in the round. Torres is landing with some decent strikes but Steele is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Torres has control of Steele's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Steele regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Torres working the ground and pound effectively.
Torres is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Torres!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:54 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Kid Torres!
