Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Stefan Struve (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mishka Palov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Struve's entrance music is Celldweller - Switchback . A fine choice. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Stefan Struve!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Mishka Palov!
The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Vladimir Khabensky and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Palov scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Struve wants to control but Palov is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Struve is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Palov's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Palov's back!
Struve gets his hands free as Palov looks to control.
Struve trying to secure his dominant position for a moment - making sure Palov doesn't escape.

Struve wants to control but Palov manages to buck him off and is now in Struve's guard! Nice work there by Palov!

The referee stands the fighters back up. Stefan Struve just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Struve fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Palov.
A lazy left from Struve finds it's target.


It looks like Mishka Palov has been cut.
Palov tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Struve swivels and escapes.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Palov shoots for a takedown but Struve saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Struve cracks Palov with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Donk. Struve catches Palov right on the button with a cross.
Struve scores with a kick to the body.
Palov looks gassed!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Struve shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Palov's guard.
Struve content to stall in guard here.
Struve's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Struve will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Palov is working an open guard so Struve takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Struve connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

Struve drives through and clinches with Palov against the cage.
Struve tries to score a body lock takedown but Palov shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Struve's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
A nice leg kick lands there from Struve.

Struve closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Struve lands in his opponent's guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Struve stays in close to Palov's body and controls the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Struve slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Struve thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Struve tries to close the distance and clinch but Palov swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Palov feints and then cracks Struve's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Struve down.
Struve fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Palov.
Struve connects with a solid leg kick.
Struve dips to his left and cracks Palov with an uppercut!
Struve scoring well with a low kick there.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Struve chopping away at his opponent's legs.

Palov tries to keep at a distance but Struve has taken the fight into the clinch.
Palov is breathing heavily.

Struve breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Struve connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Palov avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

and Struve counters with a nice double leg into side control. Palov won't be happy with that.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Struve is looking to take a break and control but Palov is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Palov manages to work his way to half guard, despite Struve's best efforts.
Struve is trying to control. Palov wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Struve not doing much here.

Struve seems to be looking for submissions.
Struve content to control rather than advance.

Struve is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Palov doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Struve.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Struve wants to lay and pray for a moment but Palov keeps working.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Stefan Struve just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Struve lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Struve doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Palov counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Struve wants to clinch up but Palov keeps it at a distance.

Palov takes a body punch but keeps moving.

Struve jumps into guard, dragging Palov to the mat.
Palov takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Struve looking for a sweep. Not yet Struve, not yet.
Struve pulls Palov in close to prevent any damage.

Struve trying to keep a closed guard but Palov is proving a slippery customer.
Struve has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Palov postures up.

Struve has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Palov should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Struve has tightened it up now! Palov should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
