PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Hy Wiener (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Scrooge McDuck (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wiener comes to the cage accompanied by No Survivors. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Hy Wiener!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Scrooge McDuck!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Ivan Kurochkin and Illya Tyunina.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

McDuck tries to keep at a distance but Wiener has taken the fight into the clinch.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for McDuck.
Wiener lands an elbow inside.

It looks like Scrooge McDuck has been cut.

Wiener works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Wiener's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Wiener stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. McDuck swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Wiener content to stall in guard here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Wiener has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

You can see the frustration on McDuck's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

McDuck is looking to regain half guard here but Wiener keeps moving and retains side control.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Wiener is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but McDuck is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wiener happy to just control the position for now.
McDuck tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Wiener wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
McDuck is looking to regain half guard here but Wiener keeps moving and retains side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Hy Wiener just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Wiener looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? McDuck is fending him off so far but Wiener persists. Nope, McDuck circles away and we're back to standing.

Wiener throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. McDuck was covering up waiting for the punch and Wiener finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Wiener is staying tight to McDuck's torso, preventing him from escaping.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
McDuck is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

McDuck takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Wiener doesn't manage to clinch there - McDuck circles away.
McDuck jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Wiener is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
McDuck just misses with a punch to the body.

and McDuck counters with a straight right hand.
Wiener fails in his attempt to clinch.
Wiener tries to clinch but McDuck moves out of range.
Wiener tries to close the distance and clinch up but McDuck swats him away and circles back towards the center.
McDuck misses with a double jab.
Jab, jab by Wiener - just one landing.
Wiener shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has McDuck pinned against the cage. McDuck gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
McDuck lands with a kick to the temple. Wiener shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

That's one minute gone in the round.
McDuck swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Hy Wiener seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Wiener decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Still in half guard, Wiener seems content to control.

McDuck is defending against the submission attempts here by Wiener.
Wiener content to control rather than advance.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Wiener is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so McDuck is just riding it out for now. Wiener eventually gives up the hold.
Wiener moves into full mount! McDuck won't be happy about that!

Wiener's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

McDuck tries to hold on but Wiener pushes him away.

Wiener stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
Wiener tries to score a power double leg takedown but McDuck sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Wiener somewhat.

Wiener looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Wiener in particular looking to stall.
McDuck is looking to control Wiener's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can McDuck avoid being mounted?

McDuck is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Wiener's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Wiener's back!

Wiener creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through McDuck's defenses.

Wiener pushes off an throws an elbow but McDuck leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.
A frustrated look appears on McDuck's face as he tries to break the clinch.

McDuck is looking to control Wiener's arms but Wiener gets an underhook and turns him. Now McDuck has his back to the cage.

Wiener comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.

McDuck takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
clinched against the cage, Wiener lands a big elbow that drops McDuck! The ref dives in to save him from more shots - McDuck is complaining that he's OK but he was done.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:36 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Hy Wiener!
