Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mikael Akerfeldt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Miksu Rupunen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Akerfeldt comes to the cage accompanied by Opeth - Deliverance. Rupunen comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Johnny Cash - God's Gonna Cut You Down kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mikael Akerfeldt! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Miksu Rupunen! The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Marco Blurström and Ben Zyskovitsi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rupunen on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. Rupunen throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Akerfeldt's waist but Akerfeldt gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Rupunen off to one side. Rupunen tries for a takedown but Akerfeldt sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Akerfeldt lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Rupunen gets in close and instigates a clinch. Rupunen changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Akerfeldt fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Mikael Akerfeldt has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Miksu Rupunen. Rupunen closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Akerfeldt gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there! Akerfeldt tries to reverse the position but Rupunen maintains control. Rupunen thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Akerfeldt wants to try and get back to his feet. Rupunen landing strikes from the mount and Akerfeldt is in trouble! Poor strikes thrown by Rupunen there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Rupunen moves to back control. Rupunen lands strikes to the head. Rupunen is looking to control Akerfeldt but Akerfeldt is wriggling around and keeping busy. Akerfeldt covering up well and avoiding damage. Akerfeldt holding both Rupunen 's hands and preventing any damage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rupunen has his opponent's back and is working for the choke. Rupunen misses with punches from the back. Rupunen lands with a big left hand that may well have hurt his opponent. Can Akerfeldt hold on?!
Akerfeldt controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position. A bit of a pause in the action here. Rupunen controlling the positon. Rupunen thows a huge left but connects with the canvas and not his opponent.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Akerfeldt is trying to get back to his feet but Rupunen has full control of the position and if anything, Akerfeldt has just worked his way into a worse spot. Rupunen is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Rupunen gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Rupunen gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Rupunen apologises and we restart here on the feet.
Rupunen throws a combination that misses and Akerfeldt counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Akerfeldt throws a nice looking combination but Rupunen bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Rupunen shoots for a takedown but Akerfeldt saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Rupunen looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Rupunen won't allow Akerfeldt to get back to his feet. Rupunen postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Akerfeldt utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Akerfeldt keeping moving, preventing Rupunen from controlling successfully.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Akerfeldt looking to hit a scissor sweep but Rupunen is one step ahead there. Rupunen won't allow Akerfeldt to get back to his feet.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Rupunen throws out a leg kick but Akerfeldt moves out of range and Rupunen only half commits. Akerfeldt jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Akerfeldt has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Rupunen finds it's way round the side to connect with Akerfeldt's head. Rupunen throws out a leg kick but Akerfeldt moves out of range and Rupunen only half commits. Rupunen closes the distance and clinches up with Akerfeldt, looking for a takedown. Rupunen pushes Akerfeldt against the cage but Akerfeldt circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Rupunen buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Rupunen bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Miksu Rupunen dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Rupunen takes one on the chin but seems OK.

He's persisting with it as Akerfeldt sprawls well. Akerfeldt wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Rupunen gets slowly back to his feet. Rupunen has a takedown stuffed. Mikael Akerfeldt has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Miksu Rupunen. Rupunen takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Miksu Rupunen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Nice jab there from Akerfeldt. Rupunen misses with a double jab
and Akerfeldt counters with a lovely shot to the body. Rupunen tries for a takedown but Akerfeldt circles away easily and Akerfeldt makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rupunen drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Rupunen is breathing heavily. Rupunen throws and elbow that misses. Akerfeldt uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Rupunen's guard. Nice move by Akerfeldt! Akerfeldt tries to stand but Rupunen is controlling from the bottom. Akerfeldt knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Rupunen on the ground. Rupunen throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Akerfeldt wants to get up but he can't break Rupunen's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Rupunen had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Akerfeldt defends it easily. Rupunen escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Akerfeldt gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Akerfeldt stands up and waves to Rupunen to follow him. Mikael Akerfeldt is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A nice combination there by Akerfeldt.
Akerfeldt lands a nice shot that snaps Rupunen's head back.
Akerfeldt stuffs the takedown. Akerfeldt cracks Rupunen with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Akerfeldt throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Rupunen counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Akerfeldt! The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Rupunen controlling from the full mount. Akerfeldt is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rupunen in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Rupunen lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Akerfeldt hang on? Rupunen trying to control but Akerfeldt is having none of it. Miksu Rupunen has got the better of the ground game so far. Akerfeldt really wants to buck Rupunen off and get back to his feet. Rupunen wants to control the pace but Akerfeldt is squirming around nicely. Rupunen throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Rupunen trying to control but Akerfeldt is having none of it. Rupunen throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Rupunen working Akerfeldt over with strikes here. Akerfeldt regains half guard. Rupunen not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Rupunen is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Miksu Rupunen showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Rupunen gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Akerfeldt counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Akerfeldt's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Akerfeldt duly obliges. Rupunen shoots in looking for a takedown. Akerfeldt tries to sprawl out of it but Rupunen keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Akerfeldt manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Akerfeldt tries to clinch up but Rupunen circles away and keeps his distance. Rupunen dives in and grabs Akerfeldt's left leg, looking for a takedown. Akerfeldt pushes down on Rupunen's head and hops out. Mikael Akerfeldt has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Miksu Rupunen. Rupunen is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Akerfeldt's half guard. Rupunen takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Rupunen throwing shots but Akerfeldt is blocking nicely.

Akerfeldt wants to get back to full guard. Rupunen seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Akerfeldt does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Akerfeldt is defending against the submission attempts here by Rupunen.

Rupunen is pressing down on Akerfeldt's thigh, looking to free his foot. Akerfeldt is holding on for now. Akerfeldt pushes Rupunen off looking to stand but Rupunen dives back in and keeps control.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Rupunen fails with the takedown. Akerfeldt misses with a looping left. Rupunen doesn't succeed with the takedown and Akerfeldt counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Rupunen thinking. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Rupunen is defended easily by Akerfeldt. Rupunen tries to move into range but Akerfeldt moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Rupunen fails with the takedown and Akerfeldt counters with a straight right hand.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Akerfeldt's corner calls for a 1-2. Akerfeldt obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Akerfeldt lands a glancing blow to the side of Rupunen's head. Rupunen looks to clinch and Akerfeldt counters with a nice body shot. Miksu Rupunen is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Akerfeldt catches Rupunen with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Akerfeldt lands with a straight right. Rupunen didn't see that one coming. Akerfeldt displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination. Rupunen takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Rupunen tries for a takedown but Akerfeldt circles away easily and Akerfeldt counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Akerfeldt cracks Rupunen with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Rupunen shoots for a takedown but Akerfeldt saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. A jab from Akerfeldt finds it's way through Rupunen's defenses.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A cross from Akerfeldt lands. Rupunen has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye. Left hook, right uppercut from Akerfeldt. Mikael Akerfeldt has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Akerfeldt connects with a crisp jab. Nice body punch from Akerfeldt. Rupunen gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Akerfeldt counters with a lovely shot to the body. Miksu Rupunen is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Akerfeldt scores with a body shot.
Akerfeldt lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Rupunen circles away quickly and effectively. A punch lands to the side of Rupunen 's head but he takes it in his stride. Akerfeldt connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Rupunen momentarily.
Akerfeldt throws a body punch but Rupunen moves out of range. Akerfeldt scores with a body shot.
And that's the end of the fight! Mikael Akerfeldt showed his dominance in that final round. I think Rupunen has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
