The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lakay is looking to chop away at Cross's legs. Lakay pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Lakay avoids a punch combination nicely.
Cross throws a right hand that Lakay ducks under and follows up with a left that Lakay also avoids with ease. Cross misses with the combination.
Lakay tries to land a front kick but Cross steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. Cross looks to throw the jab but Lakay is out of range. Excellent takedown into side control there by Lakay. Lakay wants to stand but Cross has his arm trapped. Lakay is chipping away with strikes.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cross is trying to get back to his feet. Lakay is looking to take a break and control but Cross is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Lakay decides to take the fight back to the feet. Cross lands with an overhand left. Lakay tries to clinch up. Lakay shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Lakay showed some decent athleticism there. Lakay seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lakay is trying to control the action in half guard but Cross is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Lakay lands a nice looking kick to the body. Cross takes a step back to recover. Lakay misses with a head kick.
Cross lands a two punch combo.
Cross looks gassed!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Lakay!
Cross throws a left and a right that both miss
so Lakay counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Lakay with a flurry of punches that miss. Cross being controlled here, momentarily. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Lakay pushes down on Cross's leg and manages to get into half guard. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Cross is refusing to be controlled, as Lakay sits in half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Marc Jay Lakay dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Cross misses with a body kick. Cross lunges at Lakay with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Lakay's hand. Lakay tries to clinch there but Cross circles away.
Cross looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Cross dodges the punch combination from Lakay.
Lakay misses with a jab, cross combination.
Lakay throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Cross counters with a monster hook and another for good measure! Lakay falls to the ground, out cold! Stick some heavy metal music over the top of that clip and it's one for the highlight makers!
