Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Capelli King! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Pit Jonson! The judges for this bout are George Francis, Tiny Johnson and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jonson decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Jonson content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. King is looking for a sweep. Jonson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Jonson sitting and controlling from the half guard. The fighters are battling for position here. King manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Jonson stays in close to King's body and controls the position. King looking to hit a scissor sweep but Jonson is one step ahead there. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. King keeping moving, preventing Jonson from controlling successfully. King looking to control.
King is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jonson is trying to control but can't.
King is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Jonson is just riding it out for now. King eventually gives up the hold. Jonson trying to control but King postures up.
King moves into full mount! Jonson won't be happy about that! Jonson working to try and regain half guard.
Jonson is squirming around, avoiding King's attempts to control the action. Jonson reaches up to try and control the position but King seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Jonson rolls and tries to escape and now King has his back!
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. King patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here? King missing with strikes. Jonson looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment. Jonson showing good submission defense here.
King is breathing heavily. Jonson trying to control the action but King just sinks the hooks in.
Despite being in the dominant position, Pit Jonson just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Jonson shoots in for a double leg but King sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. King stuffs the takedown attempt from Jonson. Jonson gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. King bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. King creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Jonson sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. King working away. Jonson tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but King presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount! King tries to control but Jonson wriggling away. Jonson is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. King locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Jonson is forced to tap!
