PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Karo Sanchez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tahei Uchido (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Uchido comes into a darkened arena with his song building. The Final Battle kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Tahei Uchido will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Karo Sanchez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Tahei Uchido! The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Ren Mimura.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sanchez shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Uchido avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Sanchez. Uchido keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Sanchez stands up out of the half guard. Sanchez fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Uchido sprawls well initially but Sanchez persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Sanchez seems to be looking for submissions.
Sanchez throwing shots but Uchido is blocking nicely. Sanchez is stalling here. Uchido is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Sanchez seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Uchido has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work. Uchido tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
That's one minute gone in the round. You can see the frustration on Sanchez's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Sanchez is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Uchido's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Uchido thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Sanchez's head. Sanchez regains full guard. Nicely done. Uchido must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Sanchez will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Uchido decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Sanchez decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Sanchez thows a huge punch but Uchido dodges it nicely.
Sanchez is figuring out what he wants to do next. Sanchez is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Uchido!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Uchido tries to improve his position but instead Sanchez has taken his back! So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
Uchido is trying to shake Sanchez off. He's managed it and has hopped back to his feet! Sanchez won't be happy about giving up the dominant position. Uchido tries to work over Sanchez's front leg with a kick but Sanchez checks it. Uchido circles away from the clinch attempt.
Sanchez shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Uchido napping and manages to drive through into side control! Sanchez has an Americana. Uchido didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Sanchez is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Sanchez hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
