Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Marco Vlay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Heinz Spack (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Spack is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Kernkraft 400. Heinz Spack struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 206.7lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Marco Vlay! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Heinz Spack! The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Albert Achterberg and Wagner Zegers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Vlay changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Spack tries to avoid it but Vlay manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Spack to the ground. Spack escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Vlay shoots for a takedown but Spack saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Spack misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Spack throws a jab when Vlay was well out of range. Spack connects with a good right hand that stumbles Vlay. Vlay circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Horrible takedown by Vlay or perhaps it was just good defense by Spack which made him look bad. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Marco Vlay. That's going to take a lot out of him. Nice jab there from Spack. Spack throws a right hand that Vlay ducks under and follows up with a left that Vlay also avoids with ease. Heinz Spack seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Spack loads up on a big right hand but Vlay slips the punch. Spack lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Vlay circles away quickly and effectively. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Vlay is defended easily by Spack. Spack throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Vlay sees it coming and avoids it easily. Spack throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Vlay fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Spack avoids it really well and circles away. Vlay tries to score a power double leg takedown but Spack sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Vlay somewhat. Spack lands a glancing blow to the side of Vlay's head.

Vlay is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Vlay won't allow Spack to get back to his feet. Spack looking to hit a scissor sweep but Vlay is one step ahead there. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Spack can do anything to dispel that myth. Vlay postures up in Spack's guard and throws a big left but Spack blocks it.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Vlay has a takedown stuffed. Vlay looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Spack tries to bum rush Vlay with a series of wild strikes but Vlay uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Vlay fails miserably with a takedown attempt. A slapping body kick lands there for Vlay. Spack looks gassed! Spack lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Vlay circles away quickly and effectively. Spack gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Vlay lands with a thumping leg kick.
Spack ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Vlay moves away. Vlay throws a quick inside leg kick. Vlay closes the distance and clinches up with Spack, looking for a takedown. Vlay pushes Spack against the cage but Spack circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Vlay lands a nice looking kick to the body. Spack takes a step back to recover. Vlay feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Spack's calf. Vlay shoots in for a double leg but Spack sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Vlay dodges the punch combination from Spack.
