Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jose Luis Cantero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and George Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cantero comes into the arena with La mandanga blaring out of the sound system. Jones is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: You Dont Know - 50 Cent. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Jose Luis Cantero! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, George Jones! The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Taro Takaoka and Shirou Masuda.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jones lands a jab to Cantero's midsection. Jones needs to keep his hands up - Cantero had a free shot at his head there. Jones tries to clinch up but Cantero circles away and keeps his distance. The fight stays on the outside here - Jones looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Jones takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. Jones looks to score with a jab to the body but Cantero is just out of range. Jones fails with an attempt to clinch.
Cantero fails with the takedown. Cantero will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Cantero throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Jones throws a right and a left that both miss. Cantero uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Jones.
Jones doesn't manage to clinch there - Cantero circles away.
Jones will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Jones keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jose Luis Cantero. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Cantero tries for a takedown but Jones sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Cantero changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Jones tries to avoid it but Cantero manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Jones to the ground. Jones escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Cantero shoots in for a double leg but Jones sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Jones throws a big shot that misses. Cantero uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Jones. Jones jabbing away but nothing is landing. Cantero shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Well, if Cantero is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cantero is working for a kimura but Jones is defending it quite comfortably.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. No luck with that takedown attempt from Cantero. Cantero fails to land with a series of punches.
George Jones seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Cantero throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Jones fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Cantero manages to avoid it. Jones swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Cantero blocks a jab. Jones gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Cantero to score an easy takedown into full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Cantero stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jones swivels though and keeps the full guard. Jones wants to stand up but Cantero is controlling him. Cantero is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Jones keeping moving, preventing Cantero from controlling successfully. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Jose Luis Cantero will probably get the nod. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Cantero sees it coming and avoids it easily. Cantero takes a body punch but keeps moving. Cantero looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Cantero wants to take a breather but Jones is having none of it. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jones can do anything to dispel that myth. Jones is trying to stand up here but Cantero is controlling him well. Cantero is looking for a kimura here.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Cantero looking to control and managing it successfully. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Cantero is working for a guillotine from mount but Jones frees his head quite easily.
Jones is looking to get to half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jones takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. Jones is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Cantero controlling the pace for now. Cantero thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage. Cantero scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Jones?

That's four minutes gone in the round. Cantero is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Jones to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Jones shrugs it off. Cantero has isolated one of Jones's arms. Jones looking to fight him off but Cantero twists into an armbar. It's tight... Will he tap?? YES, he's tapped! This one is all over!
