Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gustavo Ribeiro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chris Connely!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Gwen Towbar and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ribeiro changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Connely tries to avoid it but Ribeiro manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Connely to the ground. Connely escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Connely misses with a wild body shot.
Danga de danga de dang - Connely scores with a four punch combination!
No luck for Ribeiro with that takedown attempt.
A slow jab from Ribeiro misses its intended target.

Ribeiro ducks straight into an uppercut from Connely and tumbles to the canvas! It’s a flash knockdown though - Ribeiro manages to regain guard straight away.


Ribeiro is rocked!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Ribeiro had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Connely defends it easily.

Ribeiro looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Connely trying to control the position from guard on top but Ribeiro is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Ribeiro escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Connely gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Connely takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Connely is trying to control the action in half guard but Ribeiro is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Connely seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Connely leaves Ribeiro with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Connely throws a right and a left that Ribeiro avoids nicely.
Ribeiro is looking to slow Connely down with leg kicks.
Ribeiro shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Connely as he jumps to the side.

Connely throws an overhand right that lands on Ribeiro's shoulder, as Ribeiro tries to avoid the shot.
Chris Connely is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

and Connely counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Ribeiro closes the distance looking to clinch
letting Connely counter with a right hand.
Oh Ribeiro is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Connely waves his right hand out in front of him, looking to distract Ribeiro. Oh, he's unloaded a beast of a left hand - it worked! He's dropped Ribeiro to the canvas! Can he finish him!?
Connely trying to control the position from guard on top but Ribeiro is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Ribeiro seems to have got his legs back now.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Connely is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Ribeiro wants to control from the top but Connely keeps moving.

Connely is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Ribeiro defends well.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Ribeiro connects with a couple of short punches.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Connely defends a prolonged rear naked choke attempt and turns nicely into his opponent's guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Connely tries to pass to full mount but Ribeiro defends it.
Connely throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Ribeiro tries for a takedown but Connely circles away easily
and Ribeiro takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Both fighters step back and shake their arms out. Connely engages and cracks Ribeiro with a massive lead left hook - Ribeiro tumbles to the floor, out cold! What a shot! Connely is delighted - all that hard work in training paid off!
