Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jermaine Williams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thaddeus Reese (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Reese comes into a darkened arena with his song building. BAMA Boyz-Sweet Home Alabama kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jermaine Williams!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Thaddeus Reese!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Stewart Dunkirk and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Reese shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Reese postures up in Williams's guard and throws a big left but Williams blocks it.
Reese trying to control but Williams is working from the bottom.
Reese postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Reese postures up and lands a big shot to Williams's brow.
Williams not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Williams preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Reeseis looking to pass into half guard but Williams pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Williams is in guard.
Reese wants to sweep here but Williams controlling him for the moment.

Reese escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Williams gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Williams seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Reese does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Reese is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Reese working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Williams doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Williams manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

and Williams counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Reese's guard now.

Williams avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Williams stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Reese swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Jermaine Williams overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Williams not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Reese manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Williams manages to get himself to full guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

and Reese counters with a nice double leg into side control. Williams won't be happy with that.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
The strikes coming from Reese are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

Reese throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Reese fails to land a wild elbow strike.

Williams parries the strikes from Reese easily there. Reese is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Williams to escape.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Reese has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Williams!
Williams is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Reese sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Reese jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Williams is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Williams and Reese has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Williams is looking to control Reese's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Williams avoid being mounted?

Thaddeus Reese showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Reese closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Reese lands in his opponent's guard.
Thaddeus Reese is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Reese stands up over Williams, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Reese looking to sit in guard and control but Williams gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Reese bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Williams's guard.
Williams utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Reese accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Thaddeus Reese comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Reese has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
