The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alves takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Congo misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Congo throws out a powerful jab.
Both fighters circling a little - Congo finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Congo throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Crunch! Congo slams his shin into Alves's torso.
Congo throws a sloppy head kick and Alves moves out of range easily.
Alves shoots in for a takedown but Congo shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Congo fakes the leg kick and cracks Alves in the body.
Alves really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Congo throws a front kick that sends Alves stumbling back into the cage.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Congo - that will leave a mark!
Alves is breathing heavily.
Congo lands with a nice combination. Alves backs away looking to recover.
Congo throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Alves.
Congo scoring well with a low kick there.
Congo lands a big head kick that sends Alves to the canvas! Congo follows up with strikes from the mount that forces the ref to step in and stop the fight!
