PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jack Ozz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Whitley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ozz's entrance music is So What?-Metallica. A fine choice. Whitley is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Pain Killer. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jack Ozz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mike Whitley!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Donatello Bradman and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ozz has a takedown stuffed.
Whitley avoids a punch combination nicely.

Whitley shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Ozz's guard.
Whitley stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ozz swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ozz tries to roll over but Whitley keeps him under control.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Whitley explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.

and Ozz counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Whitley can do anything to dispel that myth.

Ozz stands and steps away. Whitley gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Whitley goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Ozz has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Whitley but great work by Ozz.

Ozz is holding onto Whitley's left hand, preventing any choke attempts.
Ozz wants to get back to his feet.

Whitley is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Ozz defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

Ozz is having to fend off submission attempts from Whitley, who is looking to sink in the choke. Whitley doesn't have the hooks in though and Ozz manages to reverse position! He's now on top, in his opponent's guard.
