PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Doe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jan Moskvil Mathisen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, John Doe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jan Moskvil Mathisen!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Steve Erwin and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Moskvil Mathisen fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Moskvil Mathisen scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Moskvil Mathisen is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Moskvil Mathisen.
Doe looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Moskvil Mathisen has a takedown stuffed.
John Doe has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jan Moskvil Mathisen.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Moskvil Mathisen stands up and beckons Doe to his feet.
Moskvil Mathisen looks gassed!
Doe shoots in but no luck this time.
Doe shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Moskvil Mathisen defends it nicely.
A looping hook to the body misses from Doe. Moskvil Mathisen does a little dance to reset his feet.
Moskvil Mathisen fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Doe.

Moskvil Mathisen gets a takedown into half guard.
Moskvil Mathisen perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Moskvil Mathisen passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Doe!
Doe wants to hold on but Moskvil Mathisen pushes him away.

Moskvil Mathisen looking to secure an arm triangle but Doe defends it well.

Moskvil Mathisen controlling the position easily from mount.
Doe is in all sorts of trouble here.
Moskvil Mathisen tries to control but Doe wriggling away.

Let's hope that Moskvil Mathisen has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


A head kick from Moskvil Mathisen lands but Doe takes it in his stride.

Moskvil Mathisen bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Moskvil Mathisen tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.

Moskvil Mathisen decides to stand up, so the ref orders Doe to his feet.
Moskvil Mathisen looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Doe is fending him off so far but Moskvil Mathisen persists. Nope, Doe circles away and we're back to standing.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Moskvil Mathisen avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Doe closes the distance but Moskvil Mathisen moves to the side

and Moskvil Mathisen counters with a takedown into side control.

Doe is pushing Moskvil Mathisen's head away, looking to escape. Moskvil Mathisen manages to hold on to the position though.

Doe is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Moskvil Mathisen is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Doe will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Doe is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Moskvil Mathisen shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Doe as he jumps to the side.

Doe has Moskvil Mathisen pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Moskvil Mathisen manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Moskvil Mathisen tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Doe smiles and moves away.
John Doe has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jan Moskvil Mathisen.
Doe thows a body shot but no joy.

Doe is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Moskvil Mathisen has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Doe avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Moskvil Mathisen has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Doe uses from the top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Doe postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Moskvil Mathisen is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Doe, into his guard.
Doe wants to improve his position but instead Moskvil Mathisen has moved into half guard.

Jan Moskvil Mathisen showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!



Moskvil Mathisen closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Moskvil Mathisen drops down looking for an ankle pick but Doe pulls his leg out and moves away.

and Doe counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Doe.

Doe gets control of Moskvil Mathisen's arms and successfully pulls guard. Doe will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Jan Moskvil Mathisen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Doe wants to improve his position but Moskvil Mathisen is controlling well.
Doe is trying to maintain the position but Moskvil Mathisen is very close to passing his half guard.

Moskvil Mathisen looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Moskvil Mathisen. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Doe tries to control the position but Moskvil Mathisen now has his back.
Moskvil Mathisen is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
Moskvil Mathisen is trying to stick to Doe's back but Doe is turning into Moskvil Mathisen. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Moskvil Mathisen's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Doe.
John Doe has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

I would just about give that final round to Jan Moskvil Mathisen.
Well Moskvil Mathisen has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
