Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Ren Akita (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Caro Nowsco (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ren Akita!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Caro Nowsco!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Shirou Masuda and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Akita shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Akita was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Nowsco wants to hold on but Akita pushes him away.

Akita jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Nowsco manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Nowsco is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Akita has just dragged him back down to the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Akita scores with a couple of short elbows.

Akita is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Nowsco knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

That's one minute gone in the round.
An elbow from Akita crashes against the mat.
Akita postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Nowsco pushes Akita away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Akita gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Akita wants to lay and pray for a moment but Nowsco keeps working.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Akita darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Akita tries to pass to full mount but Nowsco defends it.
Nowsco looks like he's trying to stand up.

Akita is looking for a kimura but Nowsco is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Akita to get the leverage.
Nowsco is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Akita is trying to control the action in half guard but Nowsco is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Akita maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Nowsco could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Akita has cracked it and Nowsco is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Akita!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Ren Akita!
