PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Emil Costas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Guru Majja (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Guru Majja told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Majja fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Costas doesn't manage to clinch there - Majja circles away.
Majja throws a body punch but Costas moves out of range.
Costas lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Majja takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

No joy there for Costas, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Costas throws a big shot that misses.
Costas tries to bum rush Majja with a series of wild strikes but Majja uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Majja takes a swing at Costas's ribcage but misses.

Costas fails with an attempt to clinch.

The fight stays on the outside here - Costas looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Majja misses with a wild combination.
Majja moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Majja fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Majja lands a jab to Costas's midsection.
Costas is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Costas throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Majja throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Costas takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Majja keeps the fight on the outside.
Costas throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Majja's head.

Majja lands a left and a right that send Costas crashing to the mat, dazed. Majja thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

Oh Costas is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Majja scores with a jab to the body.
Costas is breathing heavily.
Costas takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Costas seems to have got his legs back now.

Majja throws a right and a left that both miss.
Majja fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.

Majja drops Costas with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Costas looks back up at him and smiles so Majja waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
Majja fakes the leg kick and throws a superman punch. It's knocked Costas out cold! Brutal finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Superman Punch). Guru Majja!
