Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nick Daaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Melvin Saddleman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Daaz's entrance music is Meshuggah - Mind's Mirror. A fine choice. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Nick Daaz!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Melvin Saddleman!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Daniel Cesar and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Daaz swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Daaz misses with a body shot.
Daaz throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Saddleman wants to clinch up but Daaz keeps it at a distance.
Daaz does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Daaz changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Saddleman tries to clinch but Daaz moves out of range.
Daaz swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Daaz slips a jab and a cross from Saddleman.
Daaz doesn't manage to clinch there - Saddleman circles away.
Saddleman slips a jab and a cross from Daaz.
Saddleman lands with a shot to the body.
Saddleman slips a straight right by Daaz.
Daaz falls off balance throwing a combination
and Saddleman cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
No luck for Saddleman with that takedown attempt.

Saddleman has had enough of the clinch but Daaz keeps him there for the moment.
Saddleman tries to stall but Daaz uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Daaz escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Saddleman looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Daaz rushes Saddleman and presses him up against the cage.
Saddleman drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Daaz gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Saddleman wants to stall.
Daaz scores with a hook to the body.
Saddleman wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Daaz is pressed up against the cage. Saddleman has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Daaz down to the mat. Daaz avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Nick Daaz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Melvin Saddleman.

Daaz fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Saddleman manages to avoid it.
Daaz looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Daaz gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Saddleman manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Daaz prevents Saddleman from breaking the clinch.
Daaz stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.

and Saddleman counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Saddleman.

Daaz breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Daaz takes a swing at Saddleman's ribcage but misses.
Daaz throws a lazy right hand but Saddleman sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Daaz thows a left - swing and a miss!
Daaz lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.

Daaz scores with a crisp jab that stopped Saddleman in his tracks.
Saddleman scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Daaz tries to clinch but Saddleman is having none of it.
Saddleman lands a nice hook to Daaz's body. Daaz takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Daaz throws an ugly left hook that misses
letting Saddleman counter with a right hand.
Saddleman shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Daaz pinned against the cage. Daaz gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Daaz gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Nick Daaz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Saddleman lands with a hook. Daaz tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Daaz throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Saddleman cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Saddleman tries to close the distance and clinch but Daaz swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Daaz swings for the body but Saddleman moves out of range.
Horrible takedown by Saddleman or perhaps it was just good defense by Daaz which made him look bad.

Saddleman slips a straight right by Daaz.
Saddleman throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Daaz tries to close the distance and clinch but Saddleman swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Saddleman doesn't manage to clinch there - Daaz circles away.
Saddleman stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Daaz throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Saddleman stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Saddleman uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Daaz.
Saddleman walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Daaz lands a head shot.
Daaz looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
A good leg kick by Daaz.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Daaz misses with an uppercut
and Saddleman counters with a nice low kick that buckles Daaz's knee momentarily.
Nice body punch from Daaz.
Daaz ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Saddleman throws a good cross that connects.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Melvin Saddleman will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Saddleman uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Daaz.
Daaz tries to clinch

Saddleman shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Daaz but Daaz pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Daaz throws an overhand right that lands on Saddleman's shoulder, as Saddleman tries to avoid the shot.
Saddleman looks to land a combination but Daaz avoids it well.
Daaz throws a poor cross that misses
and Saddleman counters with a nice uppercut.

Daaz lands a glancing blow to the side of Saddleman's head.
Saddleman closes this distance looking for a takedown but Daaz circles away.
Daaz just misses with a punch to the body.

and Daaz holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Saddleman escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Saddleman Rushes Daaz and starts throwing punches like they are going out of style! Daaz is up against the cage and has nowhere to go. Saddleman Piles on the pressure and Daaz crumples to the floor! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:30 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Melvin Saddleman! Melvin Saddleman retains his light heavyweight title!
