Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Iku Roe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kazushi Saakuuraabaa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Saakuuraabaa comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Welcome To The Jungle kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Iku Roe! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kazushi Saakuuraabaa! The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Daniel Franklin and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Saakuuraabaa tries to clinch but Roe moves out of range. Saakuuraabaa throws a looping overhand right but Roe ducks down to avoid it. Roe throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Saakuuraabaa was covering up waiting for the punch and Roe finishes the takedown easily into guard. Roe postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Roe trying to control but Saakuuraabaa is working from the bottom. Roe prevents Saakuuraabaa from getting back to his feet. Roe postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Roe missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Roe prevents Saakuuraabaa from getting back to his feet. Roe lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Roe thows a big elbow that misses. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! That's one minute gone in the round. Roe scoring with punches to the head and body. Roe stops Saakuuraabaa from standing up. Saakuuraabaa manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Saakuuraabaa throws a sloppy head kick and Roe moves out of range easily. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Roe. Roe shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Saakuuraabaa looks gassed! Roe has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Saakuuraabaa defend it? Roe steps over the head and cranks it - Saakuuraabaa is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Roe!
