Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Genki Dama (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ed Nelson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nelson has chosen Stephen Lynch - Special Ed as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Genki Dama! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ed Nelson! The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Emerson Jorge and Matheus Silva.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dama walks into a straight right hand from Nelson. Dama misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Nelson jabbing away but nothing is landing. Dama slips a straight right by Nelson. Nelson throws an overhand right that lands on Dama's shoulder, as Dama tries to avoid the shot. Dama swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Nelson looks to land a left hand but Dama moved out of range nicely. Dama steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Nelson. Nelson throws a hook but Dama blocks it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Dama avoids the body shot from Nelson.
Dama keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Nelson. Dama throws a wild body kick that Nelson sees coming a mile off. Nelson bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Dama pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Dama misses with an uppercut. Nelson saw that one coming. Dama throws a half hearted mid kick. Nelson shoots in and drives through. Dama sprawls well. Nelson misses with a looping left. Nelson shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Dama as he avoids it easily. A nice leg kick lands there from Dama. Nelson pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Nice sprawl there from Dama as Nelson shoots in. Genki Dama has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ed Nelson. Dama tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Dama throws a sloppy head kick and Nelson moves out of range easily. Dama throws a right and a left that Nelson avoids nicely.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Good leg kick by Dama there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Dama feints and then cracks Nelson's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Nelson down. Dama throws a head kick that misses. Nelson throws a hook to the side of Dama's head but Dama sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Nice sprawl there from Dama as Nelson shoots in. Dama tries to clinch but Nelson is having none of it. Nelson throws an overhand right that lands on Dama's shoulder, as Dama tries to avoid the shot.
Nelson gets the takedown into side control. Nelson prevents Dama from escaping the position. Nelson working the ground and pound but Dama is defending the strikes. You can see the frustration on Dama's face as Nelson controls the position.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Dama is trying to escape and get back to his feet. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nelson working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Nelson remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Nelson moves into full mount!
 That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Nelson wants to control the pace but Dama is squirming around nicely. Nelson tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Nelson misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Nelson cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Ed Nelson dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Nelson lands with a hook. Dama tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Dama scores with a push kick. A head kick misses from Dama. Dama misses with a head kick.

Dama goes for a high kick. It partially lands. Dama walks into a straight right hand from Nelson. Nelson throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Dama counters with an inside leg kick. Nelson is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range. Nelson swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Dama misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Dama misses with a low kick as Nelson jumps back. Dama misses with a head kick.

A kick lands to the mid section there for Dama. Nelson misses with a straight right. Dama uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Nelson. Nelson tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Dama swivels and escapes. Dama swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Nelson shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Dama as he jumps to the side. Genki Dama is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. The fighters circle momentarily. Nelson darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Nelson closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Nelson looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Dama with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Nelson has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Nelson tries to pass to full mount but Dama defends it. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Nelson thows a huge punch but Dama dodges it nicely.

Nelson moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Dama has worked his arm free - good work by Dama!
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Dama tries to escape but Nelson is in control. Nelson is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Dama wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

Ed Nelson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

 That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Nelson shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Genki Dama has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ed Nelson. Nelson missing with a left hand there. Dama was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Dama feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Nelson's calf. Nelson is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Dama. Dama buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

Ed Nelson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Nelson. Nelson lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Nelson has a takedown stuffed. Dama throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Dama misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Nelson walks into a straight right hand from Dama. Dama throws a right and a left that Nelson avoids nicely. Nelson steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Dama. Nelson throws a nice looking combination but Dama bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Nelson takes a head kick and keeps coming.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Nelson dives in and grabs Dama's left leg, looking for a takedown. Dama pushes down on Nelson's head and hops out. Nelson shoots in for a takedown but Dama shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. A nice leg kick lands there from Dama. Dama thumps Nelson with a low kick. Dama misses with a body shot.
Nelson misses with a straight right. Nelson shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Dama counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters. Genki Dama has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Ed Nelson is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Nelson takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Nelson is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Dama. Dama tries to work over Nelson's front leg with a kick but Nelson checks it.
And that's the end of the fight! Genki Dama showed his dominance in that final round. I think Nelson has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
