Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Randy Liddell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alexey Bykov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alexey Bykov told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Randy Liddell! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alexey Bykov! The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Viktor Lagutenko and Aleksei Zolotukhin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bykov blocks a jab. Bykov steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Liddell. Bykov bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Liddell rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Bykov moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Liddell misses with a jab, cross combination.
Bykov shoots in looking for a takedown. Liddell tries to sprawl out of it but Bykov keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Liddell manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Nice shot lands for Liddell. The fighters circling - Liddell throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Liddell misses with a hook. Bykov ducked under it nicely. Liddell lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Liddell avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Liddell misses with an uppercut. Bykov saw that one coming. Liddell throws a combination. Bykov tries to block but a couple of punches get through. Bykov takes one on the button. Bykov avoids a punch combination nicely.
Bykov tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Liddell swivels and escapes. Bykov has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Liddell finds it's way round the side to connect with Bykov's head. Liddell misses with an uppercut. Bykov saw that one coming. Liddell throws a big shot that misses.
That's one minute gone in the round. No joy there for Liddell, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Bykov blocks a jab. Bykov slips a straight right by Liddell. Liddell swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Bykov counters by moving into the clinch. Bykov goes for a takedown attempt but Liddell pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Liddell throws a lazy right hand but Bykov sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Liddell throws a hook but Bykov avoids it easily. Liddell works the jab nicely. Liddell is trying to force a seperation but Bykov has the dominant position. Bykov lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage. Bykov is working for takedown but Liddell is calmly controlling the position for now.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Liddell is pressed up against the cage. Bykov has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Liddell down to the mat. Liddell avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Liddell misses with a looping right. Bykov swinging wildly here.

Liddell looks to land a combination but Bykov avoids it well. Randy Liddell is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Liddell gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Bykov won't allow Liddell to get back to his feet. Bykov has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Bykov accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Bykov wants to control from the top but Liddell keeps moving.

We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Liddell tries to get out of the position. Liddell wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Bykov wants to control from the top but Liddell keeps moving. Liddell is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Liddell misses with a hook. Bykov shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Bykov was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Liddell is looking to get to half guard. Liddell wants to control but Bykov is having none of it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Liddell tries to reverse the position but Bykov maintains control. Bykov punishing his opponent with strikes. Bykov lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Liddell wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Bykov.
Liddell is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Liddell tries to hold on but Bykov pushes him away. Bykov thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage. Liddell in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Liddell can't escape the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Alexey Bykov dominated that round. That's time! Liddell's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Bykov ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Liddell throws an overhand right that lands on Bykov's shoulder, as Bykov tries to avoid the shot. Bykov steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Liddell. Liddell throws out a loose jab but Bykov uses good head movement to avoid it. Liddell lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Liddell, as that shot connected.
Bykov shoots in and drives through. Liddell sprawls well. Bykov shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Liddell swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Liddell misses with a double jab.
Liddell throws out a token jab with nothing on it. The crowd cheers as Liddell lands an impressive looking overhand right. Bykov doesn't seem phased though. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Liddell misses with a looping left. Bykov moves out of range of the strikes. Liddell is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Bykov. The fighters circling - Liddell throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Liddell is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all. Bykov has Liddell up against the cage in a clinch.

Bykov tries to clinch up but Liddell circles away and keeps his distance. Nice shot lands for Bykov. Liddell connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. The fighters roll with the hold and Liddell manages to kick Bykov off! Bykov jumps back into Liddell's guard. Liddell looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Bykov is standing up over Liddell. Liddell looks to escape but Bykov dives into side control.

He's pushed Bykov's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Bykov uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Liddell. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
