Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Fred Joe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ted Chips (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ted Chips will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Fred Joe! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ted Chips! The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Mauricio Rocha and Leandro Rodrigues.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Chips changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Joe tries to avoid it but Chips manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Joe to the ground. Joe escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Chips shoots for a takedown but Joe saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Chips. Fred Joe has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ted Chips. Joe tries for a takedown but Chips circles away easily and Chips counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Chips. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Joe wants to sweep but no luck. Chips is looking to work some ground and pound but Joe has wrist control. Chips trying to control but Joe is working from the bottom. Chips working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Chips wants to control from the top but Joe keeps moving. Chips throwing strikes but missing. Joe keeping moving, preventing Chips from controlling successfully. Chips throwing strikes from guard but Joe blocks nicely. Chips must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Chips feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Joe looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Chips chips away with some ground and pound. Chips won't allow Joe to sweep him here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Chips throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Joe works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Chips content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Chips in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Joe looking for a sweep. Not yet Joe, not yet. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Joe throws a couple of heel strikes.
Chips postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Chips wants to control from the top but Joe keeps moving. Chips throwing strikes from guard but Joe blocks nicely. Chips in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Joe tries for a takedown but Chips circles away easily and Chips decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Joe's guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Chips content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Chips postures up in Joe's guard and throws a big left but Joe blocks it. Chips stopping the sweep attempt from Joe. Joe avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Joe is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Chips defends well. Joe can't keep his opponent in guard - Chips advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Chips with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Joe wants to get back to full guard. Chips trying to pass the guard but Joe defending well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Chips is trying to control the action in half guard but Joe is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Joe is trying to control but Chips manages to pass to mount!

Joe throwing hammer fists to the chest of Chips. What's that going to do exactly? Joe wants to control but Chips is having none of it. Joe throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Chips unloading with bombs! BOOM! Chips connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Chips pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Joe tries to hold on but Chips pushes him away. Chips tries to control but Joe wriggling away. Joe is wriggling around trying to escape.
Joe is breathing heavily. Chips lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Joe hang on? And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ted Chips dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Chips throws the left hand but Joe avoids the punch easily. Chips slips under a jab. Ted Chips seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Chips misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Joe.
Joe closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Joe lands in his opponent's guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Joe postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Chips is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Joe, into his guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Chips with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Joe is striking but Chips is not phased and passes to half guard. Joe is refusing to be controlled, as Chips sits in half guard. Chips winds up and cracks Joe with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Joe blocking the ground and pound attempt from Chips. Ground and pound from Chips. Chips is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Chips seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Joe lands a couple of sideways elbows. Joe is trying to get back to full guard. Joe makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Joe.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Chips trying to control the position from guard on top but Joe is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Ted Chips has got the better of the ground game so far. Chips looking to sit in guard and control but Joe gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Joe postures up in Chips's guard and throws a big left but Chips blocks it. Chips not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Chips looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Chips thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage. Chips is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Joe is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Chips is trying to keep Joe in close.

Chips is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Chips manages to kick Joe off! Joe jumps back into Chips's guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Joe trying to control the position from guard on top but Chips is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Joe stopping the sweep attempt from Chips. Joe tries to free his leg and advance position but Chips is retaining full guard. Joe throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Ted Chips showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Joe's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
Joe uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Chips. A looping hook to the body misses from Chips. Joe does a little dance to reset his feet. Chips takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Joe tries for a takedown but Chips circles away easily and Chips counters with a shoot takedown. Joe fights it but they end up in guard.

Chips is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Joe wants to improve his position but Chips is controlling well.
Chips winds up and cracks Joe with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Chips seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Chips bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
And that's the end of the fight! Ted Chips comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Chips winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
