Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ben Pulver (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tim Howe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ben Pulver! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tim Howe! The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Yves DeLean and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Howe fails with the takedown. Howe shoots in for a double leg but Pulver sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Ben Pulver seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Pulver tries to bum rush Howe with a series of wild strikes but Howe uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Pulver lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Pulver misses with a head kick.
Howe fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Ben Pulver has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tim Howe. Pulver keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Pulver!
Pulver lands a right hook to the body.
Howe wants to clinch up but Pulver keeps it at a distance. Howe takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Howe looks gassed! Pulver throws a head kick that misses.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pulver gets in close and instigates a clinch. Pulver avoiding damage as Howe throws knees to the body.
Howe goes for a takedown attempt but Pulver pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Pulver tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Pulver tries to clinch but Howe moves out of range. Pulver wants to clinch up but Howe keeps it at a distance. Howe keeps the fight on the outside. Pulver looks to clinch and Howe counters with a takedown into side control. Pulver is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Howe's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Pulver controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Howe wants to pass to mount but Pulver is defending the position. Pulver is controlling Howe's position as best he can from this difficult position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Pulver wants to get back to his feet. Howe wants to work for an arm triangle but Pulver is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Howe tries to pass the half guard into mount. Pulver knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Howe blocks a head kick by Pulver.
Pulver has managed to clinch.
Howe is trying to force a seperation but Pulver has the dominant position. Pulver throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Howes head. Pulver lands a takedown into guard.
Howe has Pulver pulled in close to control his posture. Pulver trying to control the position from guard on top but Howe is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Pulver trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Howe looking for a guillotine here but Pulver defends easily.
Pulver preventing the sweep. Howe is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Pulver is controlling him. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Howe looking for a sweep. Not yet Howe, not yet. Pulver trying to control but Howe is working from the bottom. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ben Pulver dominated that round. That's time! Pulver's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Howe clinches up against the cage. Pulver lands a nice shot to the body. With the fighters clinched against the cage, Pulver creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. Pulver stops a takedown attempt from Howe.

Howe jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Pulver walks away with a smile on his face. Howe gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Ben Pulver has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tim Howe. Pulver tries a head kick but it misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Howe tries to clinch but Pulver moves away and Pulver counters by clinching up. Howe unloads a knee to the mid-section. Pulver lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh. Pulver has Howe pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Pulver pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Howe tumbling to the mat - Pulver dives into Howe's guard. Howe wants to get back to his feet but Pulver is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Howe is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pulver trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Pulver slips nicely into half guard. Pulver works his foot free and advances to mount. Pulver in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Pulver throws some wild stikes that Howe manages to avoid easily.

Pulver is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Howe has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Howe!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pulver wants to sweep but no luck. Howe throwing strikes from guard but Pulver blocks nicely. Pulver pushes Howe off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. A head kick by Pulver misses and Howe counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Howe clinches but Pulver breaks the clinch and Pulver counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Pulver stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Howe gets a trip takedown into half guard. Howe controlling the action here. Pulver is staying active underneath Howe, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Pulver regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Howe. Howe works over Pulver with some ground and pound from guard. Pulver looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Pulver keeping moving, preventing Howe from controlling successfully. Pulver keeping full guard, as Howe tries to pass.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Howe is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Howe stopping the sweep attempt from Pulver.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Pulver tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Howe was well out of range. Poor timing from Pulver. Howe shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Pulver is trying to defend but Howe finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Pulver works his way to full guard. Good work. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Howe accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Tim Howe will probably get the nod - 10:9. That's time! Pulver's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. And we move into the final round!
Pulver fails in his attempt to clinch. Pulver misses with a kick to the body and Howe counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Howe shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Pulver counters with a good, hard body kick but Howe shrugs it off. Pulver throws a head kick but Howe moves out of range.

That's one minute gone in the round. Howe tries to clinch but Pulver moves away and Pulver moves into the clinch. Howe takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Howe with a knee to the head.
Howe is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Pulver gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Pulver's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not. Pulver pulls Howe into guard.
Howe won't allow Pulver to sweep him here. Pulver preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Howe is looking to advance position but Pulver has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount! Pulver throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Howe because Pulver loaded up on that one.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Howe tries to hold on but Pulver pushes him away. Pulver working Howe over with strikes here. Pulver lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Howe takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. Ben Pulver overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Pulver lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Howe hang on? Howe holds on for dear life. Howe is working to get back to half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Pulver goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Howe turns into him and now he's in Pulver's guard.
Pulver trying to control the position here. Howe drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Howe jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Howe working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Howe looking to pass the guard. Pulver managing to control the position. Howe postures up and lands a big shot to Pulver's brow. Howe being controlled here momentarily. Pulver keeping moving, preventing Howe from controlling successfully.
And that's the end of the fight! Ben Pulver showed his dominance in that final round. Well Pulver has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
