Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jay Weiland (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Howlett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jay Weiland! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, James Howlett! The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, James Ackerman and Richard Clark.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Howlett lands a two punch combo.
Weiland misses with a double jab
and Howlett counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Weiland strikes from the bottom but Howlett uses the opportunity to move to side control.
Howlett stands up. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Howlett gets in close and instigates a clinch. Weiland fails to pull guard.
Howlett breaks the clinch.
Weiland tries a head kick but it misses.
Howlett gets the takedown into side control. Weiland takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Weiland is not content to let Howlett control the position. Weiland tries to get back to half guard but can't. Weiland tries to escape but Howlett is in control.

Howlett gets to mount! Weiland was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Howlett jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Weiland is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Weiland and Howlett has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Howlett has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Weiland feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Howlett looks gassed! Howlett preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Weiland tries to stand but Howlett is controlling from the bottom. Weiland gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Howlett has managed to clinch.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Weiland breaks from Howlett's wrist control and lands an elbow. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! BOOM! Weiland connects with a massive shot to the dome!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Howlett tries to lock up and control but Weiland gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Weiland controlling from the full mount. Howlett has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Howlett in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. That's five minutes gone in the round. Weiland looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead. Weiland with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Howlett tries to lock up and control but Weiland gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Weiland has control of Howlett's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Howlett regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Weiland looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Howlett is trying to maintain the position but Weiland is very close to passing his half guard. Weiland decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Weiland is fighting the takedown attempt but Howlett gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. Howlett slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Weiland is trying to control Howlett's posture but Howlett avoids it. Weiland is pushing Howlett's head away, looking to escape. Howlett manages to hold on to the position though.

and Weiland counters with a one-two to the body. James Howlett seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Howlett tries to land a front kick but Weiland steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. Weiland closes the distance but Howlett moves to the side and Howlett counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Howlett trying to control but Weiland is working from the bottom. Howlett is working Weiland over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Weiland not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Howlett works over Weiland with some ground and pound from guard. Weiland keeping moving, preventing Howlett from controlling successfully. Howlett gets to his feet - Weiland follows without any prompting. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Nice takedown defense from Weiland. No joy for Howlett on that attempt. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Weiland. Howlett forces Weiland back against the cage and clinches.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Howlett tightens his grip and picks Weiland up, before dumping him to the ground. Weiland manages to land in guard. Weiland wants to stand but Howlett is controlling the position. Weiland scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Whack! Weiland lands a heavy head kick that drops Howlett. The ref tackles Weiland to stop the fight - a great save by the referee because Howlett was done.
