Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Heddy Lamaar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jemaine Clement (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lamaar kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Pledge To Hedley Lamaar. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jemaine Clement! The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Bruno Hogan and Summer Carpenter.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Clement misses with a body shot.

Clement postures up in Lamaar's guard and throws a big left but Lamaar blocks it. Lamaar keeping full guard, as Clement tries to pass. Heddy Lamaar overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Lamaar is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Clement defends well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lamaar looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Clement is looking to stand up but Lamaar won't let him. Lamaar pulls Clement in close to his closed guard and prevents Clement from doing any damage or advancing position. Clement wants to control from the top but Lamaar keeps moving. Lamaar has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Clement can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Clement stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lamaar swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Clement got a little sloppy there for a moment and Lamaar has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Clement has managed to get both his arms back between Lamaar's legs - danger averted. Clement trying to control the position from guard on top but Lamaar is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Lamaar is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Clement pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Lamaar is keeping the position for now. That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Lamaar sneaks a leg under to get to half guard. Clement wants to lay and pray for a moment but Lamaar keeps working. Lamaar keeping hold of Clement's head, controlling as best he can. Lamaar moves into full guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Clement accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Lamaar has his foot on Clement's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Clement works his way back into a safe position though. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Heddy Lamaar dominated that second round. That's time! Lamaar's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!
Clement throws a nice looking combination but Lamaar bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Clement throws a sloppy head kick and Lamaar moves out of range easily. Lamaar takes the fight into the clinch. Lamaar turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control! Clement wants to get back to his feet but Lamaar is dominant here and he's now got Clement's back! Lamaar really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Clement. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Lamaar lands with a big left hand that may well have hurt his opponent. Can Clement hold on?!
Lamaar is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Lamaar gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Lamaar gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Lamaar apologises and we restart here on the feet.

Clement will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
That's one minute gone in the round. Clement looks to land a left hand but Lamaar moved out of range nicely. Clement throws a body punch but Lamaar moves out of range. Clement waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Lamaar. Lamaar forces Clement back against the cage and clinches. Lamaar tries for a takedown but Clement manages to get underhooks.

Clement stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lamaar swivels though and keeps the full guard. Lamaar is adopting a defensive guard. Lamaar is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Both fighters are breathing heavily. Clement thows a big elbow that misses.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Clement drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Lamaar dives on top into guard. Clement looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Lamaar controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Lamaar keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Clement's head. Lamaar sitting in guard, not really doing much. Clement looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Lamaar puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. Clement tries to kick Lamaar off but Lamaar keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Still in half guard, Lamaar seems content to control. Lamaar seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Clement for as long as he can get away with.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Clement slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Lamaar preventing the sweep. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Lamaar's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Lamaar with a flurry of punches that miss. Lamaar sitting in guard, not really doing much. Jemaine Clement has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Lamaar's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Lamaar postures up.

And that's the end of the fight! Heddy Lamaar showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Lamaar, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
